What Would You Expect From TM’s HSBB Announcement This 24th March?

The new generation of internet broadband service in Malaysia will be officially unveiled on 24th March, carrying together mountains of hopes from fellow citizens. Many expect that TM’s new High Speed Broadband or known more as HSBB, will change the whole broadband industry, moving away from ‘slow’ image that’s shadowing the largest ISP provider in Malaysia for years. Consumer has long suffered the painful experience of having to go through slow, intermittent and unreliable internet connection.

After spending billions of ringgit to build, develop and manage HSBB, there is no room for failure at this stage. TM can’t afford to be a laughing stock all the way from locals to internationals who’re watching the development of broadband service closely. After all, this is also the opportunity for TM to redeem back what it had lost before.

Like most of you had in mind, I’m expecting something cool from this project as well.

1. TM’s HSBB retail service will be officially unveiled, which means that it will be opened to individual and business to subscribe. HSBB will be packaged with new brand to differentiate it from Stremyx. It is unknown if Streamyx brand will be upgraded, remains as the cheaper version of broadband or killing it off (very unlikely).  Klang Valley will be the first area to enjoy the HSBB service, which is said capable of reaching 15Mbps download speed. That’s awesome!

2. National Broadband Initiative will be announced. HSBB project itself is part of the initiative, but I’m hoping to see more plans that could propel the broadband signup rate to a new height.

3. As covered before, an announcement about special broadband services for all villages and rural areas will be announced on the same date. I believe that, this is also part of the National Broadband Initiative to be announced on the same date. Imagine broadband in every corner or our country..

4. TM struck the deal with Manchester United and English FA to be their official partner here in Malaysia. Looking how ‘crazy’ Malaysian toward football especially EPL and United,  TM is expected to fully use the deal as a promotional vehicle to attract customers.

Apart from that, the deal may include the access to exclusive contents that English FA and United had, which TM hopes to include in its own content channel?

5. Remember (or should I say ever heard about it) Yemmz? I had briefly covered it before. There is no better timing to release the new social networking portal when TM and HSBB project is in the midst of the spotlight from every corner.

6. Mandatory Broadband Service Facility?
