Import bookmarks from Yahoo Myweb to Delicious

During my earlier day on internet, Yahoo Myweb is one of the social bookmarking websites that I use to promote my article directories. But that day has long gone. So does Yahoo Myweb which will be discontinued beginning 18th March 2009.

Yahoo MyWeb is another bookmarking tools under Yahoo beside Delicious and Yahoo Bookmark (seriously, I never heard this). I guess this is wise decision to closed it down.

Yahoo Calendar Beta hands-on and the similarities and differences with Google Calendar

The new Yahoo Calendar Beta is quite impressive.  In term of features, it is almost on par with its older rival, Google Calendar except on the few aspects. I have Yahoo Calendar brief hands-on this evening while working on some old project.

I love comparison, and to start with, I choose Google Calendar. So first of all, I tried my best to find similarities between these 2 calendars on the cloud.

Both calendar has full-fledged calendar function, from creating simple events to recurring events. Event’s reminders can  sent via email or SMS pop out (Google Calendar only) and Yahoo Messenger (for Yahoo Only). Yahoo’s SMS events reminder however only applicable for US users, while Google accept almost all carriers all over the world.

Both support event’s drag and drop between hours, days, weeks or months. Yahoo is slightly ahead when it allows  adjusting the event period by resizing the event’s box size to be shorter or longer.

Apart from that, both calendars allows sharing the calender with public or people you wanted as well as prints the calendar directly within the application.

To differentiate between calendar type, both allows multiple calendar type, normally on the nature of that calendar such as for personal or business use. The different calendars are differentiate by color, the people who can shared with and etc.

Additionally, Google Calendar have an option to display holiday calendar which Yahoo Calendar lacking with.

The are couple of differences that I notice, and I believe there are more. This are difference that bound to the service provider.

Yahoo has Flickr integrated into Yahoo Calendar. If users happen to be Flickr user, enabling this feature will randomly fill up certain days with the photos from Flickr. Future release includes filling up the day event with the photos that you uploaded that day.

A quite huge different obviously, that Google Calendar can be viewed offline , feature that was introduced on Google Apps recently. With this feature, Google Calender is more appealing for frequent travelers who needs to get in touch with their hectic schedule.

Yahoo Search Pad helps organizing your search automatically (with screen shot)

Yahoo Search Pad is the latest innovation from Yahoo, to enable users taking note of what they search automatically, without leaving the search result page or using other tool. As Yahoo explain in more detail

Search Pad tackles this problem by intelligently detecting users’ research intent, automatically collecting visited sites, and providing simple tools for users to organize and add notes – all in one place. Users can easily edit, delete, and re-order notes they’ve taken on a topic, and then print them out or email them to friends and family. They can also save the notes to access later by logging in with their Yahoo! ID

It still in development phase, and only certain users can use this feature for the time being. I tried putting a screen shots how Yahoo Search Pad works based on their video. Hope it helps for folks who are way to busy to watch it, and those not plugged to internet broadband connection.

1) Yahoo search page shows how many notes has been saved on your current session
