Stay here, Yahoo said when you search for Google, Ask and Live

As GoogleSystem pointed out that the new Google homepage will incorporate the Live Search and Yahoo Search button at the bottom of its own search button, which I think is a wise move to offer more competition, there is one message by Yahoo that I think is a brilliant move too.

If you perform search on keyword like Google, Live or Ask, Yahoo will put up special message that ‘advice’ you to stay there, and continues searching. The message is clear but honest and it doesn’t sound to offend other competitors.

Apparently search for Cuil doesn’t returning similar result. Probably Cuil is too early to be considered as serious competitor.

Yahoo Pingbox goes Facebook

With Pingbox, visitor to your profile page can IM with you without Yahoo Messenger or signing in to it.

Even when you’re not in Facebook, your friends can still IM with you, which then appear on your Yahoo messenger.

If you relied on Yahoo Mail for important things such as business or even dating purpose, make sure they have been informed in advance or user other email services as point of communication.

Head to customer service in case any problem arise.

Yahoo Mail turns 25

If Yahoo Mail is human,  by 25 he/she might have been graduated from university, start working or perhaps even getting married.  yahoo mail 25 Yahoo Mail turns 25

I still remember Yahoo Mail (and other Yahoo services), being among the first websitse I discovered (what else great website at that time, right?) about 8-10 years ago on one small cyber cafe . I’m quite proud with my email account when most my peers don’t even heard of Yahoo back then. Of course it is totally different story now when 4-5 years kids has been exposed to the internet by their parent.

I never thought Yahoo Mail is that old. They have been around for a quarter century now. Where Yahoo Mail stand now? It got new looks (Yahoo Mail Classic is the old version) and started integrating 3rd party applications in it. Even YM is available inside it now.

But the future doesn’t looks very much in favor to Yahoo Mail, at least at the moment. Ok, let’s not spoil Yahoo Mail birthday post today. So to Yahoo Mail, keep up the good work!

Yahoo unveiled its own mobile web application service with the newly enhanced Yahoo Mobile. There are 3 major components under Yahoo Mobile is mobile web application, iPhone application and application designed for other smarphones such as Nokia, Blackberry and Windows Mobile powered smartphones.

Lied as the foundation of Yahoo Mobile is Yahoo OneSearch,  Yahoo oneConnect which consist of Yahoo’s own services such as email, Yahoo Messanger, Yahoo Calendar. Opera Mini, Yahoo Maps and Yahoo news are among others that will be bundled together with Yahoo Mobile.

What differentiate Yahoo from the rest of major search engines is,  Yahoo doesn’t built mobile phone platform or something that related to it. Unlike Google which has Android under its chest, and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5, which both are the backbone of smartphones nowadays, Yahoo has no such thing, which created huge gap with its rivals on this mobile platform.

What Yahoo tried to offer is already exist on most smarphones, which usually bundled and integrated together with the OS and ready to use.  So Yahoo Mobile  is seen here just like another  ’app’ or ‘add-ons’ that trying to fill the gap on the default applications currently lacking with.

But Yahoo Mobile might has slight advantage over its rival, when its applications is compatible to run all platforms. But at the end of the day, it depend on how good the application is, and the willingness of users to try and use the application.

Yahoo Mobile beta version is vailable for trial now.
