There are 2 major enhancements on Yahoo Mail recently.
My Connection
The first one is the integration of Yahoo Mail with ‘My Connection‘ which is accessible only via Yahoo Profile before. If you familiar with social networking sites such as Facebook or Linkedin, the principal behind it is same. It just the way that you’re making a connection (be friend) with other Yahoo accounts holders. Just like other social networking sites, you can adds and invite friend to be your connection and interacting each other.
By the time I write this post, I can already see it on my Yahoo Mail’s ‘Welcome’ page. It sit on the top of the page, instead of top Yahoo News which now moved to the bottom.
The second enhancement is obviously the most interesting one, although currently only available to limited ‘power users’.
From within Yahoo Mail, user will be able to add and use application such Flickr. Even Wordpress is said going to be here later (posting from Yahoo Mail??). The integration will enable user to use this application from within Yahoo Mail, and whenever needed, to send/share such as the picture(if you use Flickr) to peers/friend with few clicks.
The concept more less similar like what Gmail did, which slowly integrating its application such as Google Doc to allow seamlessly interaction between the app. But Yahoo Mail has slight advantage over Gmail (at the moment) because Yahoo Mail is opening it doors to third party applications as well.
Despite the uncertainty in Yahoo, it looks like the engineers are never dried of ideas for a new innovation. Well done!
