Have you try the new Yahoo Mail on iPad? Yahoo has released Yahoo Mail for iPad which is built on HTML5 standard and it looks real good. Yahoo Mail for iPad is the same web app on iPhone but optimized for Apple iPad bigger screen. It now has 2 pane for better reading experience, with email list on the left pane and reading pane on the right. The new Yahoo Mail feature also include local caching for online viewing and email search.

After I switch from Blackberry to Android is, I have without email application/client to read my Yahoo Mails. The only way to do that is from browser as the free Yahoo Mail account that I have doesn’t support neither POP no IMAP . But frankly speaking, I’m very happy now that Yahoo Mail app for Android is now available. Thank you so much Yahoo!!
Wait, stop, that’s not the only thing that Yahoo release today. Yahoo also release Yahoo! Messenger apps for Android as well as a Yahoo! Search Widget for Android. It’s 3 app simultaneously. Well done Yahoo. I love that as well. So you want the app now, head to Android Market from your phone and install it. Oh yeah, it support on Android 2.0 and above only.
What the Yahoo Mail app can do, or hit the source link at the bottom for more info.

- Send emails to contacts from the Yahoo! Address Book as well as to contacts in the native phone address book
- Search email messages by sender, recipient, subject and keywords
- Upload photos as attachments directly from the phone’s camera or the photo gallery
- View and download attachments
- Insert emoticons and rich text formatting into emails
- Effectively manage and organize their Yahoo! Mail messages, folders, and spam
- Easily toggle between the Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger apps
Main Menu – Clean and simple

The lack of 2 ways email status sync for email is quite disappointing after sometime . At the moment, only actions ( such as read, sent emails) from Blackberry device will sync toward the web based email (eg Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail), but not the other way round.
That’s pretty annoying if you have read hundreds of email from other email program (web browser, Gmail app in Andoird, iPhone), but have to mark it as already read ,manually in Blackberry, just for example.
Some good news is, the rumors about upcoming BIS 3.0 is said to overcome this issue. But apparently that’s only for Gmail plugin, so I guess other email have to stick with 1 way sync until.. I have no idea when.
The original source where this info first leaked, has uploaded document BIS 3.0 which apparently has been taken down.
I certainly hope this is for real!

Google has nothing to fear even to have its nearest rival in web mail to advertise their email service right on its Gmail as shown on the below. Gmail still fresh from being the no. 1 web-mail in India, which is previously Yahoo Mail strong hold for very long time.
Being dominant in online advertising, Google is open for anyone to advertise their own service
On the other side, Yahoo is taking the bold move to have this advertisement, considering that, Gmail users are most likely use Yahoo Mail or Hotmail, including myself before. Yahoo Mail has received numerous enhancement over the year, including introducing AJAX based interface, open application and become even more social-like website, with hope to gain back the market share it is losing so far.

It is only this morning that I noticed WordPress is no longer available from Open Apps section in Yahoo Mail when I tried to open it to make some demo to one of my friends. This is how it looks like last January.

Not a big deal though, as it is still available via My Yahoo! Just feel a little bit disappointed because it is no longer there. When Open Apps is opened to public in January 2009, it does look promising, at least to me. The idea to let you do everything from within Yahoo Mail is cool idea, but the end result is far from satisfying.
Only few applications were introduced in the span of 6 months, which is not acceptable. There are 9 applications in Yahoo Mail, while My Yahoo has better number, with 24 applications. Numbers of app and app type tend to be the factor that influence users to use any ecosystem. The obvious example is how super successful iPhone App Store is with tens of thousands applications.
Taking numbers as the benchmark here, Open Apps certainly has failed to impress users.
