After long dry spell from introducing new Android smartphone, Celcom has added Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini 10 during it’s Raya Phone Sale. Price starting from RM548 with RM250 monthly commitment for 1 year contract. But Rm118 monthly subscription fee looks more reasonable for those in budget, though the phone is priced slightly higher at Rm708, with 1 year contract as well.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini is considered as entry-level Android smartphone with reasonably good specification such as Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz processor, 5 MP, 2560х1920 pixels, autofocus, LED flash camera although the OS it is running on Android 1.6 is outdated.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is one of the smartphone in my wish list (before I bough HTC Legend), but I have to put it in KIV at that time due to the phone performance it self . True, it is one of the finest and most affordable Android smartphone with 1Ghz processor and 3.7, 4″ touchscreen, 8 megapixel camera and etc. But sadly it comes with Android 1.6 and sluggish performance on the software side (based on review). What other Android model with this spec that you can get for RM1500, right??
When news broke that Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is going to get update, it is really an eye opener. But to the disappointing, it is not update to Android 2.1 or 2.2, but at least it will fixed couple of issue. It doesn’t specifically stating what kind of update it would be, but enough to say that the update is on improving the phone performance itself.
This update focuses on improving the general performance, speed and responsiveness of Xperia X10. For example, there are speed improvements in messaging tasks and camera UI. In addition we add a free back up and restore application so you’ll never lose your settings and information. In selected markets, PlayNow™ with premium apps and games will also be added.
The update is currently being rolled out now, OTA or you can hook up you phone to Wifi network, or install it from PC by visiting www.sonyericsson.com/update and follow the instructions.
