WordPress plugin directory got little touch up at the back end side, few days back. The search function is being polished with the introduction of Sphinx. It is said now returning better and more relevant search result. Externally, it still maintain similar looks though, but with better performance and relevancy, who would arguing it?
Btw, the search box is pulling the key phrase cache from the Firefox search bar. For greater user experience, it would be better to suggest key phrase as we type, instead.

With tonnes of CMS (content management system) available for free nowadays, creating websites is no longer rocket science even for beginner. CMS such as WordPress, Joomla which is synonym with blog, has evolved to the extent where e-commerce, directory, photo blog can be built from it.
But have you seen nice looking website created from Google Sites. Never had I seen such site before, but apparently it is exist . Sadasystems is one of them, built using Google Sites. Nice rite?
It is not just static good looking website though. It able collecting data via form built from Google Doc. This nicely done website achieved, when there are certain features being restricted in Google Sites such as, no CSS editing and not accepting certain HTML and Javascript tags.

I have reserved few site names in Google Sites although I never use none of them. This is mine.. still need more touch up if i really want it to be shown to the world, but that’s not the case right now. So do you have site run on Google Sites?

Last week, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft has together introduced a new tag, called ‘Canonical‘ to help clearing duplicate URLs. What is Canonical Tag? The basic principal is to tell search engines, the preferred URL on your site, and telling them out of tonnes of URL pointing to certain web pages on your website, which URL should be indexed.
The tag should looks like this, installed on each of your web page’s <header> section.
<link rel=”canonical” href=”http://example.com/page.html”/>
I have to read the first post that I come across to, many times before I pretty much understand how it works and what for. I know it is going to be quite confusing initially. So you should read Joost De Valk’s post, how he illustrate this tag to his readers.
He in fact has created Canonical URL plugin for WordPress, Magento and Moveable as well, which will add the tag automatically at your <header> section.
If you still confuse, you might as well take a look at Matt Cutt’s presentation.
Its been almost 2 months since WordPress get last update, with WordPress 2.7 released in the mid of December last year.
The 2.7.1 release is more toward as maintenance where it fixes 68 tickets. Among fixes including “Drafts are published in the past” which happen intermittently before.
Thanks to the developer, there are now automatic upgrade function from within WordPress. But apparently it doesn’t detect an updated version is already available.
Looks like I still have to manually install this update..
