The much hype about the release of Window 7 beta has fired back to Microsoft after its failure to delivery the much needed product key smoothly. The Windows enthusiast who has been anticipating Windows 7 beta release since last Friday, sat empty handed after keep getting error above in attempt to get the product key.
Although Microsoft has added more infrastructure and extending the 2.5 millions download limit, a quick check this evening shows the problem still persist. No luck with the workaround from Lifahacker too.
Although I still proceed downloading it without the product key, I started feeling sick of how the whole process works. Pray for me my readers.
Anybody want to give me your product key

Windows Live Essential is a collaboration suite developed by Microsoft under its Windows Live services. It consist of 5 desktop applications above that available free Live users.
I’m first using these applications in November when I’m exploring the whole Windows Live package. At the end of the day, I stick only with Windows Live Writer and Windows Live Mail. I keep the Window Live Messenger, although I rarely using it. I have Picasa 3 installed, so I keep the Photo Gallery aside.
Microsoft has done a quite good job when it come to desktop/Windows based application unlike its ‘cloud application’. It is easy to use and straigtforward application.
Windows Live Mail is a desktop email client such as Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird but with fewer feature. While Windows Live Writer is a blogging tool where you can write and post any document directly to your blog from your desktop. It has become my default blogging editor due to the simplicity. After the first release, it got another 3 new very useful plugins. This final version should have all plugins made available, so no upgrade required.
On messenger, please be aware that there is a bug that prevent the webcam from working properly. So you might check the forum before using it.
If you’re looking for free collaboration and productivity suite for your desktop, Windows Live Essential is a quite good choice . Go get them.

Microsoft keep tuning its Windows Live service in order to attract bigger audience to use this. This is including increasing the size of its Windows Live Skydrive to 25Gb from 5GB when it was first released last November 08. With the significant increase in size (5 times bigger), it surely boost SkyDrive popularity as one of the biggest free online storage.
Skydrive is obviously the cream of Windows Live service. The rest of the services such as ‘space’, ‘photo’ are just another addition to what was already offered around on the net. Who need ‘space’ when you have Facebook, or ‘photo‘ when you have Flickr??That’s where the extra storage play its role here. More space meaning more items(photos, files, documents) that you can keep here.
But don’t you think the Skydrive is lack of ‘social’ aura? Who will view or comments the photos?? The bigger problem is, did any of your friends using Windows Live? No friends meaning no social interaction, which is something that Microsoft attempting to build.
It might works as an online personal storage at the end of the day. 25Gb is whole lot of space when old notebooks such as mine has only lowly 30GB space. So instead of spending another buck on external hard drive, why not fully utilizing SkyDrive to keep my collection of photos that keep growing ever since Canon accompanying our outing during the weekend.
Beside the size, Microsoft also trying to simplify the way users uploading the files into the Skydrive. Now it provide users with several entry point to access the files. And all files are now accessible via skydrive link.
I wish Skydrive is as popular(and feature rich) as Flickr, so I don’t have to spend $25 to upgrade my Flickr account to Pro
It’s been a week after I start using Ubuntu. The installation was a breeze on my old Dell Latitude. Since I install it on top of Windows XP, the performance is quite disappointing to the point that I want to do full complete installation. But that means I have to create another partition on the hard disk and hence reinstall XP and the rest of applications, which I’m not yet ready to do at the moment
Overall, Ubuntu provide a better experience to first time user. It was a relief when Ubuntu manage to detect & install almost all Latitude drivers, so no headache here. Wireless setup is a straight forward too, and I manage connecting to internet which is one of primary objective that I set earlier.
Get things done
The biggest obstacle for anyone to start using and working in Ubuntu seriously is not because of Ubuntu itself. Ubuntu is pretty straight forward OS and quite easy to be mastered. But it is how to find replacement or similar applications that user used to have it in Windows, now to run it in Ubuntu. For instance, I’m using Paint.net, Snagit, Core FTP which are all Windows based application and now, I have to search similar application that can run on Ubuntu properly.
This is where you’re going to spend your time searching and testing it on Ubuntu. It need passion and patience to get this work as you wish. Otherwise, anytime this can turns you away especially those that just want to try.
Stay tune for more hands on.
