Guess what, one the device offered in Celcom Year End sales is Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet, making it second carrier after Maxis to offer the tablet. And unlike Maxis which subsidized the tablet price only based on the contract period, the package offered by Celcom is vary, based on contract period and monthly commitment. Price begin from Rm1368 for 18 months contract with Rm250 monthly commitment, which is the lowest you can get.

If you prefer low monthly commitment from RM78 permonth, Galaxy Tab is priced at RM1828 for 12 months contract. It is actually slightly cheaper than Maxis package which priced at RM1849 for the same contract period (12 months) with Rm108 (voice + data) monthly commitment.

That’s why competition is good for consumer.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Hits 1 Million Units Mark

5231250942 246f2caf5d Samsung Galaxy Tab Hits 1 Million Units Mark

It looks like Samsung Galaxy Tab has finally positioned itself as the first true iPad rival, with quite impressive sales figure. Sales of Galaxy Tab worldwide has reached 1 millions unit since it’s released. The word comes from Samsung itself, to confirm the rumors that surface earlier on, although no further detail revealed just yet. Though the 1 millions sales milestone is accomplished not in the pace of iPad which reach that feat in a record 28 days, Samsung can still proud of the record that none of iPad rival wannabe achieve so far.

There are still more rooms for improvement. Samsung can close the gap if they could come out with different flavor of Samsung Galaxy Tab. It’s chief rival, iPad has 6 variance which difference by storage capacity and wifi-only or wifi-3G model. Samsung Galaxy Tab on the other hand, has only 2 model difference only by storage capacity, when they should come out with Wifi only model. The problem with this is, Samsung Galaxy Tab has no direct model to compete with WiFi-only iPad that sold cheaper than Galaxy Tab 16GB model.

Take this for instance, the lowest retail price of Samsung Galaxy Tab is RM2699, while the newly release iPad 16GB wifi only model is competitively priced at RM1549. Though Samsung Galaxy Tab has more features than iPad, but in the market that sensitive to price different, Apple iPad is the obvious winner here. So think again Samsung!

5142825480 b5e598b04c Samsung Galaxy Tab Tablet Hit Maxis Stores Beginning Last Week

One of the most anticipated gadget this year finally hit our shores beginning last week, via Maxis. The price though is little bit steep at RM2699 without contract, or RM1749 or RM1849 for 12 months and 24 months contract respectively. The contract is varies from RM108 and onward for 500MB worth of data plus voice plan, which I feel is unnecessary as tablet is used mostly for non-voice usage.

Samsung Galaxy Tab is 7 inch tablet running on Android 2.2. It comes with Wifi and 3G connectivity and using normal sim card, unlike iPad that used micro sim. Powering it is 1Ghz processor with 16GB storage to store your data. Samsung Galaxy Tab is regarded by many tech blog as true competitor to iPad, but as it is pricing closed to iPad which run on IOS that specifically tailored for tablet sized screen, iPad still has the edge over Samsung Galaxy Tab, at least for now.

I’s late I  know , blame my hectic working schedule. But Samsung’s hotly discussed tablet, Galaxy Tab is one worthy stuff to be mentioned here. Of all tablet out there, it is the tablet that could give iPad some of competition to make both a better product.

Alas the spec, I bet you all already knew it. It’s running on Android 2.2, no surprise here. At it’s core is Cortex A8 1 GHz processor (erm, no hummingbird like Samsung Galaxy S), 512 MB of RAM and 16/32 GB internal storage which expandable with memory card.

On the camera, it has 3 Megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash at the back and 1.3 Megapixel Camera at the front which made video call possible (suddenly video call become a must feature, you know why). No AMOLED screen here, but instead is 7-inch TFT-LCD multi-touch display with 1024×600 pixel resolution. Wifi and 3G connection is standard feature , which mean there is no model with wifi only like iPad. Battery can lasted for 7 hours for move play.

HD video content is supported by a wide range of multimedia formats (DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and more)

For reading pleasure, Galaxy tab has so called Readers Hub – which  consolidates e-reading applications such as eBooks, magazines, and newspapers. As starter, eReaders from Kobo, PressDisplay and Zinio are available to be used in this tablet. Over 2 million books,2,500 titles of magazines and more than 1,600 newspapers are available at launch.

Unconfirmed price is expected to be around $200-$400 with contract to telco. It will be released first in the UK at coming monts
