Glad to know that Motorola Malaysia finally bring Motorola Droid or known as Milestone outside of the State to the Malaysian market recently. It’s considerably late entrance as Droid has been in the market since last October but then, better late than never right?
In the US, Droid together with other Android phones has almost single handedly bring new life to Motorola, who hasn’t had decent phone since the end of Razr era. Well, you should be able to guess if Droid is one such a great phone or not, based on that.
Droid, running on the latest Adroid 2.1 OS is one of the most ideal Android phone for beginners or seasonal Android user. Ideal in the sense that, other Android smartphone brands available in the store are still carrying outdated Android version 1.5 or 1.6 on their phone which are lacking of killer features. To make the matter worst, the upgrade path to the newest Android OS is almost nonexistent. You’ll be stuck with the default OS version unless you’re upgrading to unofficial ROM on your own.
It is obvious that the cream of the crop in Droid is the combination of the Android 2.1 and Droid sleek design itself which somewhat ‘tough’ with ‘sharp’ edge; nice and rare looks in contrast with most smartphones design nowadays which usually comes with curvy edge. Droid packed with feels good UI in Android along with Google web apps, impressive specs that include 5MP camera, GPS, 3G and Wifi connectivity, bluetooth, capacitive touch screen with multitouch and many more.
If that is not enough, the slide QWERTY keyboard is an addition to the virtual keyboard for physical keypad die hard fan. And you know what, Droid does come with Android Market by default, although only free apps are open for download. Another reason to buy Droid over HTC phone guys!
With all those spec, the price is quite reasonable low, I mean for original set, not grey market aka AP set. Recommended retail price (RRP) is RM2299, a moderate figure between it’s main rival Blackberry Bold 2/Storm 2 and HTC HD2/iPhone 3GS. AP set is about 1700-1800, but it only comes with Android 2.0 not 2.1.
