The common perception amont tech savvy users about about Internet Explorer perfomance is, it is slow especially running javascript page. We’ve seen numerous testing done before, by Internet Explore’s rivals or tech blog using standard methodology such as Acid 3 that shows, IE is slower than the rest of browsers.
Microsoft does not happy with this development and come out with its own testing version. It is simple test, run without using any standard tool. Microsoft paired Internet Explore 8, side by side with Firefox 3.05 and Chrome 1.0, to run top 25 websites in the world, to confirm which browser is the fastest to load these websites.
To measure the time accurately, timing started once Go button pressed, and stopped based on the browser ‘Done’ indicator, when the site completely loaded.
Internet Explorer 8 perform pretty well. It load faster on 5 of top 10, 12 of the top 25, 3 times as many as Firefox and 1/3 more than Chrome.
The result shown below, but you can also get the full report and videos.
This test brilliantly targetting common users, who are not familiar with sophiticated testing tool such ACID3. To most peoples, the fastest browser is the browser that load these websites in shortest time. And Internet Explorer has successfully proven that in this test.

Quite dissapointing, as there is no way to embed the video in this blog, hence I get couple of screen shots and pasted here. Click image to enlarge.
