iPhone 4 Antennagate Inspired Ads For Samsung Galaxy S Getting More Interesting

The ‘antennagate’ war or word between Apple and rival such as Samsung has motivated the creative department or agency with creative idea to come up with ads that poking fun to rival’s weakness. This ‘Hello’ message spotted on the Samsung Galaxy S ads clearly taking cue from the antennagate issue. The letter ‘l’ is the strength of the phone reception and it end up with the unique letter ‘O’ which no doubt is the iPhone home button white line. It’s fun to see this ads.. only time will tell when this is gonna stop

Maxis & Digi Start iPhone 4 Pre-Registration

iPhone 4 will be available in another 18 more countries by the end of July, and we all know that Malaysia is not one of them. More countries will be added later but there is no confirmation which countries and when it is going to be. So when Digi and Maxis start put up iPhone 4 pre-registration page on their website, that’s the clearest sign ever that they iPhone 4 will hit our shores soon, probably by end if August. Apple strict style won’t let their partners to speculate the rumors, unless something has confirm black and white, just like in this case. Digi appears to be the first to have the registration page went live this evening, followed by Maxis soon afterward. It’s close ‘war’ of marketing, but I do not expect the price war ahead. Price? Unfortunately there is none, so stay tune.

Steve Jobs’s Antenna Demo Draws Criticism From HTC, Nokia and RIM

This is the slide where all are began. When you have problem with your own stuff, dragging rival into the problem and stating they have (or all) the same problem  as well is not really a good idea. It’s not really ethical to say the least, for the sake of defending your own stuff. But that’s what Steve Jobs did, ‘brilliantly’ trying to divert the fact that not only iPhone 4 suffers from the antennagate , but so does smartphone from rival such as RIM’s Blackberry Bold 9700, HTC’s Droid Eris and Samsung Omnia II. The respond.. you can expect the backlash. Obviously they’re unhappy. There is no cursing or swearing of course..

RIM
“Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.”

HTC

“Approximately .016% of customers,” Eric Lin, the company’s global PR and online community manager exclusively revealed to us before adding that “we have had very few complaints about signal or antenna problems on the Eris.” – pocket-link

Nokia

“Antenna design is a complex subject and has been a core competence at Nokia for decades, across hundreds of phone models. Nokia was the pioneer in internal antennas; the Nokia 8810, launched in 1998, was the first commercial phone with this feature.

Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying human behavior, including how people hold their phones for calls, music playing, web browsing and so on. As you would expect from a company focused on connecting people, we prioritize antenna performance over physical design if they are ever in conflict.

In general, antenna performance of a mobile device/phone may be affected with a tight grip, depending on how the device is held. That’s why Nokia designs our phones to ensure acceptable performance in all real life cases, for example when the phone is held in either hand. Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying how people hold their phones and allows for this in designs, for example by having antennas both at the top and bottom of the phone and by careful selection of materials and their use in the mechanical design.”
