iPhone 4 Madness Began!

So finally iPhone 4 hit the stores yesterday in the US as well as 5 other luckiest countries. New iPhone means long queue. This views taken from Apple store in 5th Avenue (as well as other Apple store) is now common panorama whenever new iPhone released byApple. People are just so in love with iPhone that they’re willing to stand in very very long queue.

It’s been reported that some even willing to camp outside of the store as early as a week earlier in order to be the first to get one.  Yes, that’s right, a week before the launch, but apparently he is jobless, so he has nothing to worry about.

There is more photos about the ‘chaos’ caused by iPhone 4 at Apple stores and retailers on the link below. Business Insider apparently has more photos worldwide from Japan, UK and Paris. The craze is everywhere.  I’m wondering if our country are among the first  to get iPhone 4, would that madness can be seen here as well? Without doubt, I would say YES.

Amazing!! 600k iPhone 4 pre-ordered in a day! That’s a whole lots of stuff man. Shipment date has been delayed once more as well, from 24th June to 2nd July earlier on and  now delayed to 14th July.

The figure is still  a surprise although many expect the iPhone 4 will be well received by users, but never cross in my mind the number could be that high.  That’s the power of Apple and its prized asset, iPhone that has turned the smart phone to be such a very sought after device that we knows today. Wait until later of this year where the figure might be doubled, tripled, or quadrangles when iPhone 4 is available to more countries. If you read this, you might be one of them that will contribute to that icon smile Apple Sell 600,000 iPhone 4 In a Day!

Statement by Apple on iPhone 4 Pre-Orders

Yesterday Apple and its carrier partners took pre-orders for more than 600,000 of Apple’s new iPhone 4. It was the largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken in a single day and was far higher than we anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions. Many customers were turned away or abandoned the process in frustration. We apologize to everyone who encountered difficulties, and hope that they will try again or visit an Apple or carrier store once the iPhone 4 is in stock.

Unlocked iPhone 4 Set Available In the UK and France

iPhone 4 pre-order has started in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan yesterday, and in fact most of them sold out in a day. In the US, iPhone 4 is locked to AT&T , but if you’re looking for unlock set, don’t worry there are exist.

UK and France residences are lucky as Apple Store in their country offering unlocked iPhone 4 without contract, or anything, but it’s not gonna cheap (some blog say so). For Malaysian who get used with overly priced iPhone 3G or 3GS will no hesitant to buy this if they are allowed. More or less, this the price that we have to pay for previous iPhone model.  Canada is said to have unlocked set as well, but it appears the pre-order hasn’t started.

The hottest gadget on the planet finally unveiled last night, called iPhone 4, that’s it. Here is the summary courtesy of Engadget’s live blogging.

- Slimmest smartphone on the planet. 24 % slimmer than iPhone 3GS; the dimension 4.5 x 2.31 inches, and 0.37 inches thick. It weighs 4.8 ounces (137 grams).

- All new design, “Glass on the front and back, and steel around the sides. It’s like a beautiful old Leica camera” Job explained.

+ Bottom : mic
+ Top: headset jack, noise cancellation mic
+ Side : Volume controls
+ Front : front facing camera,
+ Back: micro SIM tray, camera and LED flash
+ Integrated Antenna system built on steel around the side

- Feature Retina Display or RD, increased the pixel density to provide higher and sharper display up to  960 x 640 pixel.  800:1 contrast ration, 4x better than the 3GS

- New A4 chip : Powered by Apple A4 chip, max 32GB storage, Quad band HSDPA, 7.2Mbps, WiFi, GPS, compass, accelerometer and brand new sensor gyroscope (link to Wikipedia),  good for gaming

- Improved battery life : 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music and 300 hours of standby.

- New camera system : There are 2 camera now, front facing camera for video call and 5 megapixel at the back, with backside illuminated sensor, 5x digital zoom, tap to focus, and LED flash.

- HD video recording,  720p at 30fps

- Built in video editing via iMovie app, an optional app that can be purchased separately at $4.99

iPhone 4 doesn’t complete without decent OS, and here is the the brand new iPhone OS 4 or now simply called iOS 4

- iOS4 – multitasking (finally), unified inbox (like Blackberry) with threading

- You can create folders and move the app into that (no need jailbreaking anymore)

- BING added as one of the search engine option.

- iBook & iBookstore now integrated to iPhone 4 as well

- iAds :  brand new ads system integrated in iPhone 4 – Focus on monetizing for developers (and of course Apple themself)

- FaceTime : Brand new video calls through WiFi only at the moment from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4.

- Pricing (in the US only) :  2 color White and black. Pricing — $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB. iPhone 3GS will only have 8GB capacity once iPhone 4 on sale

- Preoder start 15th June and shipped to 5 countries on 24th June (US, UK, Japan, France and Germany). By July , 18 more countries will be added and on September, 88 more countries. Not mention if this is lock on unlocked set

- Upgrade to iOS 4 begin 21st June, free of charge for iPod 2nd gen, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. Not all features supported in iPod and iPhone 3G. As expected, no more support for iPhone 2G
