The gorgeous HTC Touch Pro 2 phone

htc touch pro21 The gorgeous HTC Touch Pro 2 phone

My first impression on the Touch Pro 2 is, this is real gorgeous phone. Rarely I complement any phone with this very ‘kind tone’. Not as lucky as US gadget writers who manage to get hand-ons with it though, but the aura of its prettiness can be felt by just looking on it. Maybe only for me, but this means , HTC is successful in attracting consumer with pretty design.

But what’s inside?  It has huge 3.6-inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with 480 X 800 WVGA resolution.  And then full QWERY keyboard which can be slide in and out to provide greater typing experience.  Erm, it run on Windows Mobile 6.1 professionl. 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus as main camera and VGA CMOS camera should provide decent quality of video call.

Other features including GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, FM Radio and HTC  USB. More detail here.

A quick check on HTC regional website, doesn’t found this phone there. Probably because it is scheduled to be shipped only on late Q2 2009, somewhere around June perhaps. No pricing detail available too.

Btw, HTC just opened new store at Plaza Berjaya.

Prettier Android phone: HTC G2

Just when I thought G1 is the only Android phone on the market, it looks like HTC is readying its successor, G2 which is expected to be on the market by May. So what’s the different? Sleeker and rounder design, 3.2 megapixel camera, no keyboard(??) and no Google trademark at the back case. Multi-touch? No ideas. Probably better Android OS.

Ermm, Mobile88 got the spec up now…

Hope it is released soon, so the G1 price goes down further..

Just when I thought I’ll settle down for iPhone for a while, I stumbled upon (I search if purposely actually…hehe) HTC Android G1 phone in Lelong, priced at RM1850. Yeah it is fully unlocked set. This video showing the seller playing around with Android phone and making a phone call to prove it works on Maxis or any carriers.

At a glance, it looks bulky. But I can forgive it since it from Google (lol). Overall is it tempting, but I wish to see these 2 things first before I go for it. I don’t really care the design, although next gen Android phone must be sleeker than this.

First is the multi-touch support. I still don’t understand why Google obey to Apple’s request not to implement multi-touch screen (there is hacked demo though). I know, it is patent thingy, but if you do it differently, does it still brake the rules?

Second, I love apps that ‘accompanying’ any smart phone. It makes them more entertaining, right? But Android app store with approx 800 applications, is relatively too small compared to Apple app store which has 20k apps.

Although Android app store is now opening its door for paid application,  we’ll see if it can boost the numbers of Android app.  To developers, are they willing to port their iPhone application to Android?  But I still love free stuff. Or make it lite version, and I’ll buy it if It is worth the penny.

Should I wait for the next gen Android phone?
