HTC HD2 Hacked To Run Froyo and HTC Desire Eclair ROM

Running Android on HTC HD2 is no longer impossible as demonstrated by brilliant folks over at HDblog. They have demoed how Android 2.1 from HTC Desire ROM and Android 2.2 were successfully ported to HTC HD2, tested with various things, application, games and etc (the video in Italy) . Eclair looks pretty much stable compared to Froyo in terms of stability, smoothness and etc. As always, keep it mind the tweaked ROM still in it’s early stage and you can notice few problem (on Froyo) such as bad audio quality and you need to do battery pull every time the phone go sleep which is really not convenient. Anyhow, this is another milestone to see Android to be in HD2 and trust me, it’s gonna work perfectly in one day.

Android Almost Coming To HTC HD2?

htc hd2 Android Almost Coming To HTC HD2?

I have been asked before if HTC HD2 is a great smartphone. Many impressed with the high specs, huge screen and sleek design the HTC HD2 is carrying and I don’t denied that fact. HTC HD2 is great in terms of the hardware, but the Windows Mobile 6.5 that running on it, is steadily losing it coolness factor, unless Windows Phone 7 come to the rescue later this year.

But it looks like my view is going to change soon, if Android is destined to run on HTC HD2.  There is some good news on the progress of bringing Android to HTC HD2. The breakthrough is sounds quite technical including myself, but let’s just hope that is going to materialize soon.

With the working Linux kernel, any kind of Linux-based userspace can be used on HD2. This includes Google Android and any other Linux distribution.”

HTC HD2 Won’t Receive Upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series

HTC HD2 Wont Receive Upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series

After so many rumors floating around since the day HTC HD2 first met users last year, it is now finally confirmed that HTC HD2 will stay as it is now. Joe Belfiore has confirmed to Engadget that HTC HD2 will not receive any updates to Windows Phone 7 Series, at MIX 10 event yesterday. The reason being is that HTC HD2 specification is not compliant with Windows Phone 7 Series requirement.

It’s a pity that such a great device will end up being dumped just like that. It’s a bad day for HTC HD2 users as well, who put a high hope that this phone will receive upgrade in future, when they decide to switch to this phone before.  I can sense that the sale of HTC HD2 will be having free fall drop real soon after this news broke out.

To Microsoft, please re-consider!
