Nexus One and HTC Evo Hacked To Run Ubuntu

Android enthusiast out there has successfully hacked their device and install Ubuntu on Nexus one and HTC Evo 4G in this week alone. The folk at nexusonehacks.net and htcevohacks.com which is run by the same brilliant guy has achieved this feat and making it looks pretty easy. The end result is neat and awesome. If only if I have this device, I would try for the same, but sadly HTC Magic that I own is too slow to run this stuff, just my guess.

Rooted phone is the main perquisite  to get this stuff running, in case you’re interested to do so at home. The instruction as well well as videos to install Ubuntu has been posted in respective site, with I have linked below, so enjoy! Based on the result, it looks like Ubuntu is running slightly faster in Nexus one than HTC Evo, but the result may vary.

Receiving Some Else Email address? That’s Because Gmail Doesn’t Recognize Dots As Characters

gmail Receiving Some Else Email address? Thats Because Gmail Doesnt Recognize Dots As Characters

I have been copied in one lengthy email last week from unknown sender. I thought it is spam email, so I waste no time flagging it as spam. But  I found out when I check the spam folder later, other recipients in the email start replying to each other and it become quite long threaded email. So what’s going on??Why am I copied in this email??

It appears that the email was incorrectly addressed to me. The reason is the dots (.) in the email address.

gmail dots Receiving Some Else Email address? Thats Because Gmail Doesnt Recognize Dots As Characters

Apparently Gmail doesn’t recognized dots as character in your email address. It’s quite funny considering that dots is widely used in corporate email address. Here is Gmail explanation on this when I click the ‘learn more’ button.

Gmail doesn’t recognize dots as characters within usernames, you can add or remove the dots from a Gmail address without changing the actual destination address; they’ll all go to your inbox, and only yours. In short:

  • homerjsimpson@gmail.com = hom.er.j.sim.ps.on@gmail.com
  • homerjsimpson@gmail.com = HOMERJSIMPSON@gmail.com
  • homerjsimpson@gmail.com = Homer.J.Simpson@gmail.com

gp malaysia fi result Impressed With Google F1 Result Query

OK, now I’m impressed!! How brilliant Google Search it is.  Or to be more accurate, kudos to engineers who had engineered this stuff.

Well, I’m looking for GP Malaysia F1 result, and just by querying ‘F1‘ as the key-phrase, Google Search lists the driver standing directly on the query page result on the spot, without even needs me to browse the website. That’s  genius one, Google!

It seems that it can read my mind, erm. Sorry  if this looks outdated to some of you, but I can’t just let it slip out of my radar.  Btw, so there you go my first post after 1 week in ‘hibernation’ mode.
