How To Chrome Firefox

It’s known fact that human creativity is border-less.  Here is how the creativity was applied to tech. Google Chrome looks and feels in Firefox, anyone? It is neat and pretty closed to Chrome, especially the forward and backward button, refresh and Home button. Even the page tab is quite closed, but because of the page tab implementation in Firefox and Chrome is different, the end result is not too closed. Thanks to TylerC that develop this theme, called Chromifox.

As a matter of fact, Google Chrome is third most used web browser, behind only Firefox in term of market share.

Google Chrome Extention for Google Buzz

buzz chrome Google Chrome Extention for Google BuzzIf Firefox ‘pleased’ to have Buzz It, Chrome browser have it too, with no less than 3 extensions available right now.

The first extension that I tried is Chrome Buzz. It’s the most popular right now, but apparently only allows you to view the notification or buzz or update (whichever you think accurate). Quite disappointing.

The developer is working on enhancement such as updating your Buzz and comments function which is essential for Chrome Buzz to grows. One thing great about this extension is, it opens at lightning speed!

Buzz Mobilizer Extension is more advance in the sense that you can post new update to your Google Buzz, but the performance is sluggish. To post update, it will search your location first which is very slow, before enable the text box so you can writing and post the update.

Other than that, it has search function (appears not yet working), nearby buzz and search people (not working as well).

I have to say that this is half finished extension; not yet ready for prime time. It still has potential to be  popular if all functions works nicely with improved performance.

Building Dell Mini 10v with Chromium OS

IMG_5437

I know it is little bit outdated, it’s been 2-3 weeks pass since Chromium OS was released. But only today I manage to squeeze some of my time going back to my workstation to read newsletters and testing some new stuff. Due to tight schedule,  I even miss PC Fair III!

Remember Dell Mini 10v that I bought last month. Yeah, I finally think that I’ve made a smart purchase :) Why? Because.. Mini 10v is said capable (and compatible) of running other OS, including Mac OS X.  But what I’m going to do soon is to run Chromium OS, (still in downloading progress) directly, without using virtual machines. Thanks to this fella who has created the image for Mini 10V.

I’m not sure how tough it would be, but I’ll post the progress soon after completion. Why am I doing this? Well, because it’s pity that the Mini 10 V just laying beside doing nothing productive :)

Btw, among other things that I did last week is enroll and taking ITIL certification, thanks God, it’s over now :) If you’re working on IT services related industry, you may want to take a look of what ITIL has for your career path.

An evening with Chromium OS

Just have Chromium OS installed on one of my machines, thanks to this guide.  I use Sun Virtual Box as the virtual machines with Chromium OS  image from gdgt.

If you already use Chrome browser, you will be very much familiar with this OS. It looks exactly the same, except the existence of 3 small icons at the top right corner of the OS (on my 4th screen shot), representing the battery indicator, Wifi and other menu similar to what Chrome has.

But seriously, is this what Chromium OS all about? Chrome browser with all apps on the cloud and… boot in 7 seconds? Not too excite with the boot time as my systems up almost the time.  You may said that it still in beta, but beta should give an insight what the final product would be, am I right?

It may works at certain developed countries only where internet connection is everywhere, but not on developing countries where internet is still an expensive ‘commodity’ and with limited coverage. I have not much to say as there is very few things to mentioned with regard to Chromium OS.

Sync Bookmarks In Chrome Browser Acrosss Multiple Computers

Bookmark sync for Chrome browser is all you need to synchronize your bookmark across multiple computers. It is so cool that I have installed it on every machines that I own.

It makes your life easier, switching from one computer to another without hassle of exporting and importing bookmarks to multiple computers.

Install Chrome browser beta version 4.0.223.16 to enjoy this features.

Follow these steps to start sync.

To sync your bookmarks, follow these steps on each computer that you’ll be using to access your bookmarks:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Click the wrench menu wrench menu.
  3. Select Synchronize my bookmarks.
  4. Sign in to your Google Account in the dialog that appears.
  5. If you’ve already enabled the sync feature on another computer, you’ll see a prompt asking you to confirm that your different sets of bookmarks should be merged together. Click Merge and sync to finish the syncing process.
  6. Click OK.

You can enable sync on as many computers as you’d like.

Once everything in place, you’re ready to go.

You can stop and resume the bookmarks sync anytime you want. But I prefer to have ‘Sync now‘ features, so that the bookmark will appear immediately on Chrome browser on other computers.
