Firefox add-ons: Google Noticeboard for information sharing

Google Noticeboard is Firefox extension developed by Google India, that allow information sharing between members on communities that not really technology literate. Noticeboard usually meant for publicly accessible platform, where beside sharing information, members can posting message with text message or record voice and send it to any members. Any messages sent are viewable to all members from within Google Noticeboard, as well.

Google Noticeboard use Gmail accounts as an authorization. All emails and contacts stored in Gmail will be accessible from Google Noticeboard. One thing to note is,  emails are not readable here as it was turned to HTML format, but anyhone can reply the email with text of voice. Read more about how the installations and user guide here. There is also an option to send text or voice via mobile phone, but I’ve no luck in my attempt testing it.

Google Noticeboard itself is simple application, where the only setup available is to key in your Gmail account, and set the refresh interval period. There is no setup to add new contact, hence the only place to add it, is from Gmail.

As it simple, this is not meant for technology savvy communities who can relied on different kind of communication or discussion platform such as groups, forum or even instant messeger and social media such as Facebook or MySpace.

Gmail allow undo send email, only for 5 seconds

In Microsoft Outlook, there is recall feature to recall emails that you sent unintentionally, or contain mistake that you only notice afterward.

Undo Send, the new Gmail lab feature, trying to handle this incident, on slightly different way. Every time you send an email, an ‘Undo’ link will appear on top of the sent email, for 5 seconds before it is disappear. It is said 5 minutes is enough to notice and catch that email, although I feel this is only suite for short emails.

Clicking the ‘Undo’ link will bring that email back to the compose email screen where you can edit back that email.  Remember, it can’t pull back email that already sent.

The next Gmail lab feature that I wish to have is,  ’recall’ feature, just like what Outlook can do, or even better.
