Joojoo, a tablet developed by Garage Fusion and manufactured by CSL has safely received by Engadageters and reviewed by them couple of days ago. The verdict? Not too impressive.. and furthermore they have reviewed iPad before that and you all know that iPad have set the bar of what table/slate should be in future.
But not all is bad about Joojoo. The nice things from Joojoo is the responsiveness of it’s 1366 x 768, capacitive 12-inch display. That produce nice browsing experience as what it is intend to, although there is slight issue with aspect ration, viewing angle and the menu bar. Apart from that, 7 seconds boot time, and Wifi connectivity and speed is what Joojoo should be credited for.
Flash. Yes Joojoo does support Flash, but the software to support that is not yet ready. Youtube can still be viewed with some hack technique implemented in Joojoo. Having seen this other part of the OS, the reviewer is correct when he describe it as half-baked OS. In testing some features, Joojoo has to be rebooted couple of times as well before it works properly. It’s pity that Joojoo still has this kind of small problem that it should overcome earlier.
I’m cheering when Joojoo comes with USB port, but apparently the only function for the USB port is for damn charging only, due to the fact that Joojoo is fully browser based OS. Many expecting the USB could be use for transferring data but that’s not gonna happen.
Battery is another Joojoo weak point, where it can last only 2.5 hours in full use. That’s far from 10.5 hours tested on iPad. Joojoo also get warmer as you use longer that the reviewer conclude is due to the Intel Atom and NVidia Ion chip. It’s gonna tough to fix weakness point due to hardware issue.
Expecting Joojoo to have the same level of excitement as iPad proven to be wrong, but having seen Joojoo as the second tablet/slate that manage to get into production is still quite achievement. Full review.
