CSL Spice Tablet MI700 Captured On Video, Appear to be Foxconn Tablet

A tipster left comment on my first post about impending launch of CSL Spice tablet Mi700 that the tablet is actually manufactured by Foxconn. However, I’m not sure if Foxconn designed and manufactured the tablet and made it available for re-branding by other company, or Foxconn is just the contract manufacturer for the tablet.

Nevertheless the video clearly showcasing feature available in the tablet, and I can quite safely conculde this is the CSL Spice CSL Mi700 going to be launched this September. That’s based on my observation on the features that MI700 has as well as the early image of the tablet and compare it with what shown in the video.

The processor is clearly mentioned at the beginning of the video, using the Qualcomm MSM7227.  The front panel is pretty similar with the image of MI700, including the home screen GUI. Notice the similar widget in the video with image? Other similarity included the 4 button on the front panel, speaker position, port such as sim card slot, SC card slot and the 3 megapixel camera with exactly similarly designed letter. The tablet in video is running on Android 1.6 although MI700 is said to run on Android 2.2.

So what do you think about this tablet?

Finally, CSL Spice Mi300 Specs Revealed in CSL Website

spice csl Finally, CSL Spice Mi300 Specs Revealed in CSL Website

Mi300, Android phone unveiled by Spice CSL 2 weeks ago is finally available on CSL website today (I always wondering why this happen in Malaysia, regardless the MNC or local company) The full spec is available there together with promotional flyer. I have copied the full specs below, but 1 feature that doesn’t state in the spec but available in the flyer is anti-theft security software from WaveSecure. The app is available from Android Market as well so if you use other Android phone, you can still using it as well. It is priced at RM1099, definitely the cheapest Android phone in Malaysia market now.

Although it is cheap, but do note that it still running on Android 1.6, although CSL promised that it will get upgraded later. Cooked ROM? Sorry, but I’m quite skeptical if there is dev over there in XDA will port it to this phone. So if CSL doesn’t keep it word, be prepared to stay in Android 1.6 forever. It’s not bad idea anyway, but won’t you drooling of what newest Android version can do?

Spice CSL Going Big With Android Phone

As posted earlier, CSL yesterday has launched it’s first Android phone, Spice MI300 with other 2 phones, W600 andW800. Well, put the other 2 phones aside as there is really nothing to talk about those 2 phones. So the launch is pretty huge one, at one the best resource hotel in this country, and officiated by minister. So the scale of the launch should tells you that CSL is going big for Android. They might have other Android phone currently in development or etc. Unfortunately, this is as far as I can tell you as there is no other information available. I have tried googling as well with no luck. In case you have detail about it, feel free to drop it in the comment section. Anyway this is 1 page ad in Thestar newspaper yesterday.

CSL Jump Into Android Bandwagon With Spice MI300

csl spice mi300 1 CSL Jump Into Android Bandwagon With Spice MI300

With ever increasingly popular Android smartphone, even CSL who are popular with lowly-priced dual sim mobile phone will unveiled their own Android smartphone. CSL Spice MI300 is CSL first bet in Android based smartphone, running on Android 1.6, which is said to be upgradeable to Android 2.1 (really??)

Other specs included Qualcomm 600 Mhz processor, 3.2″ capacitive touch screen, ROM 512 MB / RAM 256 MB and 5Megapizel camera. No pricing available just yet, but since CSL tend to price it phone lower to win the market, so my bet this phone would be priced below RM1000. It will available beginning this July. Hit this link for more phone specification.
