Does this signature signals that Celcom is currently testing Blackberry Storm?

photos full front Does this signature signals that Celcom is currently testing Blackberry Storm?Upon reading emails forwarded by friend of mine few days ago, I notice 1 ‘cool’ signature…

Sent via Blackberry STORM 9530 @ Celcom. It is in your hands

Although this signature could be fake, but the fact that this was used by someone from Celcom’s management level, raise my curiosity to dig  it deeper.

To  confirm the truthfulness of this info, I’ve sent an email back to the person to get any clarification, but yet to receive any respond until now.

Anybody from Celcom could confirm this?

Nokia 5800 ExpressMusic launched early last month is now available at Celcom Blue Cube.

During current Chinese New Year promotion, this phone priced at RM1399 with free bluetooth headset and XPax starter pack. It’s quite a good deal, considering the cheapest price on the market is around RM13xx . Official Nokia distributor such as Zitron adn Avax is currently selling it at RM1499.

No info on the phone price with any Celcom post-paid plan, although usually it will be cheaper after carrier subsidy.

Blackberry Bold – Maxis VS Celcom package plan

Since iPhone most likely won’t be around ‘legally’ at the moment,  lets jump to another cool gadget from RIM, Blackberry. Well yeah, only Blackberry Bold manage to give Apple’s iPhone 3G run for their money.

Hoping to see Blackberry Bold faded, once seeing a big BlackBerry Bold photo on both Maxis & Celcom sites.  Why we used to be behind when it come to get ‘cool’ device huh, probably for one exception, for gadget made in Korea, Japan or Finland.

Although I favor iPhone over Blackberry (except when Storm make it way here) for many reasons , the superiority of Blackberry over iPhone for business users and functionality is undeniable. The Blackberry strength lies on it rock solid service of delivering email to and from mobile devices. The service disruption is a rare, especially in Malaysia based on my colleagues experience of using company sponsored Blackberry which run on Celcom network.

Ahh, excuse me if I sound like promoting Blackberry. In Malaysia, Blackberry is only offered by Maxis & Celcom. I’m not ultra busy person who who devoted myself for emails, but if the price and the plan is right, why should I avoiding Blackberry, correct?

Having said that, I made a simple spreadsheet, comparing the plan between Maxis & Celcom side by side. The idea is to identify, which one offer the best value for money. Keep in mind though, the price and service compared is only for consumers usage.

Celcom’s plans looks more attractive than those offered by Maxis. Celcom didn’t mention if their data plan had included Internet/WAP service, even though I believe so but if it is otherwise, Celcom plan is surely less attractive than Maxis. Instead of price, sometime it is the quality of service that determi

Are we destined to only dream of Apple iPhone?

iphone 3g Are we destined to only dream of Apple iPhone?

I spent little time this weekend on iPhone and iPod Touch play the games, applications not realizing there you go my 1 hour. It is truth that ease to swallow… iPhone is addictive!! Or to be correct, iPhone applications that made this whole thing addictive. Unfortunately that is not mine (this post not coming this soon if I have one), but I wish that I’ll have one too. iPhone (and the app) is dang amusing!!

But, it’s odd, that good stuff hard to get . As we all aware off, iPhone won’t making its presence in Malaysia soon (or not at all), although it was speculated before that telcos such as Maxis & Celcom or even Digi are wooing Apple to be iPhone’s distributor sometime back. But no progress (and no comment from them too) since then. Our ‘smaller’ lucky neighbor has got taste of it… I’m wondering what makes this device available on certain countries and not in the other? Telcos or demand??

I have doubt if it would be due to the demand although I don’t have the figure.  iPhone can be seen being sold everywhere on the web. Just naming a few online marketplace that that you’re familiar, iPhone is available at eBay, Lelong, Mudah & Lowyat.net.

When iPhone first available here unofficially, it was ridicouly priced as much as over 3K. But thanks to demand & competetion, the price has slipped slightly lower. A quick check on Lelong which has the most iPhones, the Asia unlocked version is priced (quick grab price) as low as MYR2350 for 16GB. Pretty cheap right??

It is not a secret that Apple known to make a cut from telco’s profit from the iPhone. Iphone’s price is subsidized, but the potential buyer has to bear the cost with the contracts up to 2 years.  It is possible that the delay is caused by disagreement between 2 parties (Apple & telco) on the share and profit allocation between them.

The growing number of iPhone sales doesn’t mean ‘fat cheque’ for telcos. SingTel, which distributes the iPhone in Singapore, Australia, the Philippines and India, has lower profits because it was subsidising the device. Beside that, telcos must be assessing this iphone venture with more cautious, with the failure of iPhone business in India .It failed to appeal mobile phone users and penetrating the market dominated by Nokia although the main reason is lack of marketing effor by the Apple and its carrier partners, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone

If the deal with telcos failed to be finalized, Apple should favor seeling iPhone via its’s local Apple store, just like Apple Hong Kong store. As long as the price is lower than what grey market or ‘under water‘ offered and fully unlocked, Apple will have at least another fan in me.

I’ve no doubt about the creativeness of Malaysian to appeal for iPhone. Sign the petion online at petion.com. Say it loud, you want iPhone!!

Hope someone is listening and make the dream reality.

Celcom teams up with Dell to release another broadband-notebook bundle using the new Dell Latitude E-series. This is adding another choice of notebooks to its package, which at present only has HP Compaq. Unlike HP Compaq which is an ‘entry level’ notebook targeted to consumers, the new ‘business’ notebook will expand Dell’s product range towards small medium businesses.

According to the local news, the new Dell Latitude N-series will be equipped with Celcom built-in mobile broadband and Vodafone mobile connect built-in software. No technical details are available in Dell Malaysia or Celcom websites even though Celcom wireless external broadband modem is using Huawei technology,

As comparison, in the UK, where the wireless internet broadband is offered by Vodafone, it is using Dell Wireless 5520 Mobile Broadband(Tri-band HSDPA 3.6) Mini-Card.

The notebooks are priced from RM4,399 (not certain if installment payment via credit card is available), on which users are enjoying free unlimited wireless internet broadband for one month and a discounted rate of RM50 per month for the next six months.
