Western Digital  has released WD Caviar Green 3TB SATA Hard Drive. As the latest addition to its WD Caviar Green family of SATA hard drive, the new hard drives deliver up to a massive 3 terabytes (TB) of storage capacity on a single drive. WD is leading the industry in capacity for SATA hard drives by utilizing 750 GB-per-platter areal density and Advanced Format (AF) technology.

WD Caviar Green drives are an eco-friendly storage solution with WD GreenPower Technology™, which reduces power consumption by enabling lower operating temperatures for increased reliability and decreases acoustical noise for quiet operation. Kuala Lumpur – 21 October 2010 — WD® (NYSE: WDC) today announced that the company is shipping the world’s largest capacity SATA hard drive. As the latest addition to its WD Caviar® Green™ family of SATA hard drives (photo), the new hard drives deliver up to a massive 3 terabytes (TB) of storage capacity on a single drive. WD is leading the industry in capacity for SATA hard drives by utilizing 750 GB-per-platter areal density and Advanced Format (AF) technology.

WD Caviar Green drives are an eco-friendly storage solution with WD GreenPower Technology™, which reduces power consumption by enabling lower operating temperatures for increased reliability and decreases acoustical noise for quiet operation. The WD Caviar Green 2.5 TB and 3 TB hard drives are designed for use as secondary external storage and next-generation PC storage in 64 bit-based systems.

Drives with capacities in excess of 2.19 TB currently present barriers for PC hardware, firmware and software. To satisfy the new set of requirements of which users must be aware to successfully integrate larger capacity drives, WD is bundling its WD Caviar Green 2.5 and 3 TB hard drives with an Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI)-compliant Host Bus Adapter (HBA), which will enable the operating system to use a known driver with correct support for large capacity drives. WD Caviar Green 2.5 TB hard drives (model number WD25EZRSDTL) and 3 TB hard drives (model number WD30EZRSDTL) are available now in Malaysia at select resellers and are distributed by Achieva Technology Sdn Bhd, Eternal Asia (M) Sdn Bhd, EZY Infotech (M) Sdn Bhd, Genuine C & C (M) Sdn Bhd and Servex (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. MSRP for the WD Caviar Green 2.5 TB hard drive is RM 599 and the 3 TB hard drive is RM 749. WD Caviar Green hard drives are covered by a three-year limited warranty. ‘Who Am I’, Asked Western Digital Mascot

The second round of PC Fair 2010 is just around the corner, with KL PC Fair is just 2 weeks ahead. Meanwhile here the chance to win free gears from Western Digital. It’s not so new hard drive model (what else from WD, right) called WD Caviar Blue, WD Caviar Green and WD Caviar Black but represented by WD’s latest mascots in Brent (Caviar Blue), Gus  (Caviar Green and Blake (Caviar Black).

“Who am I” contest as it is called,  is pretty simple contest with no purchase of WD products required. Here is what the contest all about. Remember, WD is giving away one of each hard drives every week leading up to the PC Fair!

Starting from 2nd April until 13th April 2010, WD Malaysia Facebook fans can write why they think they best represent the qualities of the particular mascot for the period (April 2 – 5: Brent / April 6 – 9: Gus / April 10 – 13: Blake). Results will be announced on the 15th of April 2010 and the winning entry will be eligible to receive a 1 TB WD Caviar hard drive represented by that mascot.

My Book World Edition which meant for network storage,  equipped with ethernet connection capable of transfer rate 10/100/1000 Mb/s. It has USB 2.0 utility port, which can be connected to other My Book or other external drive as an additional storage. (Detail)
