Maxis’s Blackberry Bold 9700 Postpaid and Prepaid Packages

Getting a decent Blackberry package with great device and cheaper BIS package seems to be easier now compared to 4 months back, when prepaid Blackberry segment does not yet exist. Consumer is obviously the real winners here when carriers or telcos giving huge discount on the device and data package, rewarding customers with package, discount call and etc.

The latest offer from Maxis in conjunction with Chinese New Year is a real deal if you want to try Blackberry. Maxis who seems to be loosing its shine lately up the ante by heavily discounting newly released Blackberry Bold 9700 device, if customers are willing to pay the monthly fee for a year upfront.

Blackberry Bold - Maxis VS Celcom package plan

Since iPhone most likely won’t be around ‘legally’ at the moment,  lets jump to another cool gadget from RIM, Blackberry. Well yeah, only Blackberry Bold manage to give Apple’s iPhone 3G run for their money.

Hoping to see Blackberry Bold faded, once seeing a big BlackBerry Bold photo on both Maxis & Celcom sites.  Why we used to be behind when it come to get ‘cool’ device huh, probably for one exception, for gadget made in Korea, Japan or Finland.

Although I favor iPhone over Blackberry (except when Storm make it way here) for many reasons , the superiority of Blackberry over iPhone for business users and functionality is undeniable. The Blackberry strength lies on it rock solid service of delivering email to and from mobile devices. The service disruption is a rare, especially in Malaysia based on my colleagues experience of using company sponsored Blackberry which run on Celcom network.

Ahh, excuse me if I sound like promoting Blackberry. In Malaysia, Blackberry is only offered by Maxis & Celcom. I’m not ultra busy person who who devoted myself for emails, but if the price and the plan is right, why should I avoiding Blackberry, correct?

Having said that, I made a simple spreadsheet, comparing the plan between Maxis & Celcom side by side. The idea is to identify, which one offer the best value for money. Keep in mind though, the price and service compared is only for consumers usage.

Celcom’s plans looks more attractive than those offered by Maxis. Celcom didn’t mention if their data plan had included Internet/WAP service, even though I believe so but if it is otherwise, Celcom plan is surely less attractive than Maxis. Instead of price, sometime it is the quality of service that determi
