How and Where to Get Contract Free iPhone 4 in Malaysia

iPhone 4 620x559 450x405 How and Where to Get Contract Free iPhone 4 in Malaysia

First of foremost, this is not definitive guide, but merely some piece of information that I stumbled from internet. It may true at that point of time, but not now. Ok, so contract-less iPhone with warranty from local distributor is… probably preferred iPhone 4 to many user due to the local warranty tied to it. Ease of warranty claim and etc. Unfortunately it is not widely available, or perhaps it just not the time yet. Yes, you can get it from phone store at Lowyat plaza, The Mines and etc, but that’s is out of scope.

First source comes from the commentator at liewcf.com. 2 commentators point out that  contract free iPhone 4 is available at Maxis Centre TTDI. It is called outright purchase and comes with prepaid package, which explain further by another commentator that it is actually iData 1, which is nowhere to be found in Maxis website last weekend.

“Checked out the iPhone 4 at the Maxis Centre in TTDI today – Maxis IS selling contract-free handsets (they call it outright purchase), but tied to a prepaid pack.
Am tempted to get the 16GB ..”

“Apparently the iData plan is the contract free one. I spoken to a Maxis rep about this. If you’ve checked the maxis website, you can only find iData 2 and 3. But not 1.
The iData1 is where you purchase the phone by cash or card at the orig price and maxis will offer you a rm30 (250mb) contract that you can terminate anytime after the 1st month.
why they do not put this up on their website? Well, they rather have us tied to a 1yr/2yr contract to suck us dry. Compared to purchasing it just like that. I think non-iPhone enthusiast will fall for traps like that. And I heard that YTL comms will be offering 4g connection service in the new future.”

Many thanks to both of them and LiewCF too icon smile How and Where to Get Contract Free iPhone 4 in Malaysia

Second source is coming from Facebook. It is posted on Mac City facebook page, and I believe the comment below is pretty much self explanatory. The full message can be read here. But hang on guys, don’t rush to Mac City 1 Utama now as the stock is limited. Call them up before walk in to their store to avoid disappointment.

And the last one, contract free iPhone from Digi. Not now, but next month according to article in The Star. Read the full story
here. It is at the end of the post

“DiGi is reported to be offering non-contract iPhone 4 next month”

But no matter what, having it’s available from local Apple Online Store is perhaps the better idea, it can reach far more users nationwide.  What’s stopping them from selling it there?

Digi has unveiled it’s iPhone 4 plan, I would say the most affordable plan, started from RM58. That’s all available for now. The details of plan and the iPhone 4 price itself is not yet available at their iPhone 4 web page. Digi will start selling iPhone 4 tomorrow (24th September) as 45 Digi Store nationwide. Which store has the stock is still unknown as well. Till then, more to come as Digi update their website.

Update 1

Malaysian Wireless manage to get the leaked images of what is the Digi’s iPhone 4 plan and device price. At a glance, the device looks expensive compared to what is offered by Maxis. And the cheapest plan is RM63 not RM58 as indicated on Digi website

Multiflow, Another Alternative Multitasking For iPhone & iPad

Way before iOS 4 with multitasking is released, Proswitcher, an application in Cydia that enabled multitasking in iOS has been around quite a while, serving the community with that needs. Now we have multitasking in iOS 4, but that doesn’t stop the creativity of coders out there to come up with alternatives, and probably better.

Multifl0w , an application in Cydia is another implementation of multitasking in iOS, using Backgrounder as the app engine. iOS 4 multitasking might looks bored to some, which display only app icon currently running on background. Multifl0w on the other hand has addded little twist on it’s implementation of multitasking which looks pretty interesting. It display the application snapshot; the state of the app when you minimize them. The application snapshot image is huge as well and can be dragged upside down.

But there is trade off of this nice pretty app. It drain your battery pretty fast. And jailbreaking your iPhone is mandatory to have this app installed, from Cydia. It’s not free, you have to fork out $4.99 to have this nice looking multitasking in your iPhone, as well as iPad

Broken ‘Find A Store’ Link In Apple Store Malaysia’s iPhone Webpage Fixed

iPhone page store malaysia Broken Find A Store Link In Apple Store Malaysias iPhone Webpage Fixed

If you browse through Apple Store Malaysia’s iPhone 4 webpage and click on the ‘Find a Store’ link before, you’ll end up with page stating something like that what you’re looking for is not available. Well, that error lasted for about 2 months, couple of weeks after iPhone 4 is released, and it appears today that it has been fixed after the store brough down temporarily yesterday. Now what you’ll see on the page is as shown above. Either the error is unintentional or intentional as the iPhone 4 is not yet ready, and as it fixed now, does that means that iPhone 4 is going be released very soon?
