HTC Magic users with Rogers (one of telco in Canada) might be the luckiest HTC Magic user ever. That’s simply because their smartphone will receive official Android 2.1 OS upgrade, most likely by end of August. That’s confirmed by forumer Rogersmary in Androidforum which is one of the the Canadian’s company PR team. The whole process to get the upgrade seems quite complicated. Rogers has to go back and forth to HTC for the OS development and testing, and it still required approval from Google, the Android godfather. Nevertheless, it is still way better than the rest of regular HTC Magic users on the rest of the world who still running on Android 1.6.

Thanks to Android, the smartphone is now become even more affordable. Adding the list of Android smartphone available in Malaysia, is HTC Wildfire, the successor of HTC Tattoo. Wildfire is HTC’s cheapest Android smartphone in the market with price tag RM1199, but it does looks cool and professional , or I can say it looks ‘expensive’ . See how it is fare against Nexus One and HTC Desire below, the looks and feel is on par with it’s expensive siblings, except that it is shorter.
The spec is of course in the lower end to justify the low price tag. Except processor which is still the same processor found on HTC Tattoo, the rest of the specs has seen slight improvement. Compared to some Android phone likes the high end Sony Ericsson Xperia 10 or even Spice CSL Mi300 which still running on Android 1.6, Wildfire already running on Android 2.1 with HTC sense, nice combination of latest mobile OS (except Nexus One, most Android phone still not receive Froyo update officially) with it’s affordable price tag.

HotlinkYC, one of Maxis’s official twitter accout tweeted that they’re again looking for 10 reviewers to review Samsung Galaxy as part of the promotion. They did the same before for HTC Desire where all 10 lucky reviewers keep the HTC Desire after review (isn’t that nice?). This is the clearest sign that Samsung Galaxy S is destined to be available via Maxis, and it’s just a matter of time.
You gotta agree with me that Maxis looks pretty aggressive lately. Perhaps Maxis try to filling up the gap it has lost to Celcom and Digi on the last couple years ? Right after HTC Desire, Maxis waste no chance to grab the next best available Android phone from korean, Samsung Galaxy S, highly regarded Android smartphone by some tech blogs. Why not, with 4.3″ Super AMOLED screen and 1GHz processor, it is easily becoming one of the gorgeous smartphone in the market.
Now I’m start wondering what Celcom and Digi are doing now.
