2009 Whats hot and predictions on 2009

2009 has been on its 3rd week, so I guess I’m not too late to issue my prediction. It is just ‘wild’ predictions for 2009 based on my reading and ’sixth’ sense. Some of it are baseless and open for arguments :)

1. Iphone won’t make it presence officially in Malaysia. So don’t wait. Buy from the grey market.

2. Netflix in Malaysia. Just see how junkies Malaysia are.

3. Proton MPV will be an instant success to Proton due to overwhelming respond and feedback from motorist during the test drive

4. Proton release the Proton Waja-replacement passenger car by end of this year

5. Toyota Camry will be used in Penang as its MP and state executive official car. ‘Nice’ huh, following the step of Selangor and Perak state gov. Luckily not Merc or Beemer.

6. Malaysia won’t be in recession, think positive!. Although the economy will slowing down its pace.  The leadership shift this March will hopefully at least steers Malaysia away from current position.

7. The second LCCT terminal in Labu negeri Sembilan won’t get materialized. Certain content here make sense why it shouldn’t be approved at the first place.

8. Air Asia X fly to the US. Yeah, imagine paying RM1000 to the US.

9. Dell Malaysia closing it Bukit Mertajam plant. The rumors might true at the end of the day.

10. Affected by the internal financial scandal, Satyam resizing its operation in Cyberjaya.

11. U-Mobile won’t be able to compete effectively with other telcos and hence cease its operations.

12. DIGI rolled out its 3g services.

13. Streamyx launch 10MB bandwidth to all users. Heard the rumors from insider, hope it is true and with comparable price.

14. The economy corrirodors announced by PM last year will be just another ‘happy hour’ stories

15. Hill slide development will still be approved.

16. Cigar & liquor tax will get the price increase yet again.

17. Fuel price stay at the in region or $35- $50 per barrel due to economy crisis.

18. US economy will even worsen lead by the Detroit’s big 3 car maker, which will finally close it business.

19. Obama will follow the legacy of George Bush especially in its foreign policy.

20. The emerging of Russia as another super powers to balance current world order

Today is the last day..

Finally, 2008 will end in a few more hours (GMT+8). Besides its being the end of 2008, today is the last day I’m at the current company.

The last time I have had the same feeling is about 2.5 years ago when I leave Infopro. As usual, the last working day is full of mixed feeling. Happy, relieved, joy, sad and excited of the challenges ahead.

In the past, old friends, ex-colleagues, tend to be forgotten due to the the hectic schedule and the new environment.  But thanks to social media like Facebook, we can always keep in touch virtually. Don’t you think Mark Zuckerberg is a great guy?

Oh yeah, welcome to my colleagues and peers who reached here from the farewell email. Only a handful of them know what I’m doing after working hours. Well, nothing special though. I’m just not feeling comfortable letting everyone know what I am doing. I prefer to stay under the radar.

Besides, this is how I enhance and polish my ‘rusty’ skills ever since I moved away from coding almost 2.5 years ago. The world and our environment remain competitive from day to another. So other than your day work skill, it’s best to acquire other skills that might be useful to you one day. Life is full of uncertainties, you never know what is going on even in the next 24 hours.

Undeniably, I gained a lot of experience within these 2 years. It is something that’s wonderful regardless good or bad. It exposes you to lots of things that you’ll appreciate in the next phase of your life. For instance, in terms of  career, working with a well known company is such a bonus. Use it as a stepping stone to move forward on a corporate ladder. And most importantly, be grateful of it. Avoid bashing attitude once you’re out from there.

New year means a new resolution. I have set mine unofficially, although some of last year’s resolution are still unfulfilled. In case if you’re like me, let’s put that aside. Some of it is no longer relevant nowadays.  Draft a new one that’s most suited to your desire and needs.

Happy new year 2009 and wishing all the best to everyone.
