iOS 4.0.1 Software Update Released

iphone4 botton iOS 4.0.1 Software Update Released

So yesterday, Apple has released iOS 4.0.1 software update, which not going to address the reception issue, but more less keeping the reception signal bar accurately showing the signal strength. And so I other bug fixes as well. If you’re iPhone 4 owner, this is must have update right? But if you’re using older iPhone like me, and the type of people that not rushing to update due to concern on stability or etc, and prefer to wait the next minor software update, so this our time. Tonight, my 3GS will run iOS 4.0.1, and hopefully everything run smoothly.

Finally, CSL Spice Mi300 Specs Revealed in CSL Website

spice csl Finally, CSL Spice Mi300 Specs Revealed in CSL Website

Mi300, Android phone unveiled by Spice CSL 2 weeks ago is finally available on CSL website today (I always wondering why this happen in Malaysia, regardless the MNC or local company) The full spec is available there together with promotional flyer. I have copied the full specs below, but 1 feature that doesn’t state in the spec but available in the flyer is anti-theft security software from WaveSecure. The app is available from Android Market as well so if you use other Android phone, you can still using it as well. It is priced at RM1099, definitely the cheapest Android phone in Malaysia market now.

Although it is cheap, but do note that it still running on Android 1.6, although CSL promised that it will get upgraded later. Cooked ROM? Sorry, but I’m quite skeptical if there is dev over there in XDA will port it to this phone. So if CSL doesn’t keep it word, be prepared to stay in Android 1.6 forever. It’s not bad idea anyway, but won’t you drooling of what newest Android version can do?

If apps is the key deciding factors of what kind of smartphone platform you’re going to buy , take a look at the report published by Distimo. The report covers paid/free app/games as well as popular apps available on all major mobile OS application store from iPhone App Store to Palm App Catalog.  Free app VS paid app is obviously the one that getting the most attention.  With iPhone and Android is currently going head to head to conquers the smartphone market, it is understood why the stats comparing between them is what matter most.

Android Marketplace has the largest share of free app with 57%, 28% for iPhone App Store, and 22% for Windows MarketPlace, which is dominant force on mobile OS for the last couple of years before overtaken by the likes of iPhone and Android. Although the percentage of free app is higher in Android Marketplace,  Apple App Store still leading in free app if it based on the number of free app. There are 225k apps available in App Store as of July 2010, where 28% represent 63000 app, while Android with 85k app in the Android Marketplace, has 48590 free app for the 57% they had.

Other interesting facts include the top 10 paid games in iPhone store sold at merely 99 cents, cheapest of all stores. However the average paid app in iPhone is higher than in Android, $3.29 in Android versus $4.65 in iPad App Store and $4.01for iPhone App Store. Distimo also reveal that 50% of application is priced below $2 in all stores, except in Blackberry App World and Windows Marketplace, which to me is pretty much affordable, compared to pack of cigarette or a litter of gas/petrol icon smile Free VS Paid Apps: Android Has More Free Apps Than iPhone
