When I heard Digg unveiled Diggbar, I thought it was just another toolbar for web browser. Turn out that I’m completely wrong. Although the name sound bar, it is actually dynamic bar that appear on the screen when you ‘digg’ any site using Diggbar method.
The whole concept of Diggbar is to let everyone easily digg any web page without the hassle of toggling between Digg.com and story page. Seriously, it can be done in 2 steps.
- To submit any story to Digg.com, just add digg.com/ in front of any URL such as below.
- Press enter/go. New bar will appear on top of the page. You can submit the story to digg, to tweet the story as well as send it to Facebook. Basically, you’ll see slightly different view between story that has been sent to Digg, and that still not.
- This is the Diggbar for the story that has never been ‘digged’. It’ll show shows the ‘submit to digg’ button.
- Diggbar with the story that has been ‘digged’ before, will shows the number of diggs, and comments and related stories

Apparently there is pagerank update happen recently, starting 1st of April. The update process seems to run gradually, as I’m pretty sure that this blog still stuck on its old pagerank yesterday.
Well, this blog get back it pagerank 3, which was stripped about a year ago. It is nice to have better pagerank again, although it means almost nothing now. The excitement is no longer there, due to the nature of pagerank itself that fluctuate as it wants.
A quick check on Google found other websites experienced and reporting it as well. How about yours??
On its recent post, Google introduce 2 new improvements to its Google search result.
More and better search refinements
Google refine its search engine to identify the associations and concepts that might related to your search query. In my quick test, gravity principle suggest newton’s law gravity that we know is the person found this principle long ago.
It’s not meant for science or complex related search query only, but open to other key phrase as well. You can try it out on other things such food, games or places related with similar outcome. With 37 languages supported, you can even query the terms and its related terms that available only on your language.
Longer snippet – When you enter longer query such as below, Google now will return longer snippets (highlighted in the screen shot) on search result page, in order to provide more information on each search results it returned to. Searching for baking the best chocolate cake the traditional way for instance, returning results with 3-4 lines of snippets.
By having this functionality, user can view more detail about the results on the Google search page itself, without even visiting sometime irrelevant web sites.
Short query still returned shorter snippets, usually 2 lines, which is not providing sufficient information.
Live search recently detailing how you can check your website if it is being penalized by their search engine or not.
1. Register with Live Search Webmaster. Follow all necessary steps to validate you site.
2. After validated, go to ‘Summary‘ tab. Under ‘Blocked‘ column, (see the sample screen shot as reference) check if there are pages with ‘Yes’. If there is no ‘Yes’ mark, you’re safe now. Otherwise please proceed to the next steps.
3. Before proceed to other step, please identify what block your pages.
Check if it is related to malware. In Webmaster Center, go to both the ‘Crawl Issues‘ tab menu (review the ‘Malware infected‘ issue type) and the ‘Outbound Links’ tab menu (select the ‘Show only outbound links to malware’ option) for possible malware issues. Please clean them up immediately upon detected
If malware’s not the issue, please review carefully the Live Search Webmaster Center Guidelines. Pay special attention to the bullet items listed in the section titled, ‘Techniques that might prevent your website from appearing in Live Search results’. Posted there are the basic rules that can cause your site to be penalized. Some time it is your SEO technique or SEO consultant that you hire apply an optimization techniques, that prohibited by Live Search.
4. Once you clean up all the mess, go to the Live Search Support page and request re-inclusion into the Live Search index. Wait for a while before checking back the Live Search Webmaster.
Embedding flash, video, games, and documents directly in Yahoo! Search results is no longer ‘rocket science’ thingy. Complicate coding is thing of the past, with the introduction of new SearchMonkey feature that allow you doing this with only few steps.
This is part of the Yahoo’s enhance results that can be turned off and on from the Yahoo web page itself.

With only 2 lines code above, webmaster now can embed videos on the search result page easily. Thumbnail of the video will appear right beside the search result. Clicking on it will expand the video, and allow it to play directly from there.
How to implement this? As a guidelines, Yahoo provide set of codes and documents to embed file type flash video, games, and documents. To get started right away, head to this page.
Yahoo robots will be able to crawl any web page equipped with this markup, although they will still reviewing the content before it appear on the Yahoo search result page.
