Display Yahoo ads on your PDF file

There is an interesting development in Yahoo and Adobe collaboration, when they recently launch new ads program called Ads for Adobe PDF powered by Yahoo! beta program. This ads however only available for U.S. publishers of English-language content, initially.

Watching the demo provided on Adobe lab website, the PDF is not automatically filled in with ads, but it need to be uploaded to their system prior that

When the files uploaded to the net after that, it works like contextual ads, where the whole content will be scanned before relevant ads being displayed.

End of waiting part 2

This should be another round of waiting. Yeah I’m waiting my telephone line and internet connection to be installed to our apartment. Months ago I’ve moved to KL from Penang, Malaysia and we have requested our telephone line and internet connection transferred as advice by our telecommunication provider (you can guess who’re they). They give us 2 week, and promised everything should be in place on time

However everything is not materialize, it’s a false promise. I’m not going to tell the whole story, but I can say that their customer service is s**k, especially their phone support. Their operator or tech support can’t be trusted. Each of them will give different accuse and promise every time I made a call to them (not toll free)

After 4 weeks, I’m finally decided to go to the nearest service center with hope it will get fixed ASAP. Again, I’m surprised when their customer executives inform us that there is no record or service made for us, which is totally different from what was promised to us when we call their phone support. I guess the phone support pretending that they were doing something but actually none. It needs me to come over twice before everything settled.

I’m actually felt very sad with how our local company servicing their customer. We’re not new, we have been using their service for almost 2 years, and we never missed our monthly bill.

I’m working in one of Forbes top 1000 company and I understand how important good service to the customer. I also understand that not everyone can give a good services to every customer, but in my case, we made 6 calls to the their phone support services, none of them fruitful and what made me puzzled, each of them give different accuse and answer. It’s amazing, it seems like they have no standard procedure to handle this issue from their end.

They should have so called service level agreement (SLA) which will guarantee, each issue is handled properly and in timely manner. Each issue should be handled by group of people until it is solved, and not passed around from one group to another. They must have checklist of what needs to be done for each customer requesting certain services, so that they won’t have to come over twice or more.

Tell me if you know which company I’m talking about here. :D

Looking for free web hosting?

00webost

Are you looking for reliable and trustworthy free web hosting? This sound like a promo that you can found all over the internet. I have the same feeling when I found this promotion from 000Webhost.com few months ago. But I decided to give it a try and joined them about a months ago.

It seems my guess is true. The connection to the server is very slow and furthermore I often get timeout error or server unavailable most of the times when I tried updating my website. But that happen in the first few weeks only.

It is different story now. For free web hosting, I have to praise them that their connection speed is pretty fast and no more timeout or server unavailable error. Last weekend, I manage to install Article MS script on one of my subscribed package, customize it and get few article providers to send an articles to my article directory . You can see the action on my new health article directory. See it first to believe it

Registration process is simple where each registration and confirmation info is sent using SMS method . According to them, their free service is available until 2012. You can also use your own domain name (update it using their name server) or using their sub domain.

1 advice from me, do backup your work on your local hard drive frequently, in case something wrong happen. If you dare to try, sign up using my link :)

Test your broadband speed

Do you satisfied with your broadband internet connection speed? I’m using TMNet Streamyx and pay RM99 every month to get 1Mbps speed. But am I getting what I’m paid for?

AuditMyPC has come out with useful tool to test this out. I got pretty good 614 kbps for download while upload merely stood at 284 kbps. So, how about yours? Give it try..

blogging on part time basis

part time

Being a part time blogger or IM(Internet Marketer) and at the same time having to work on 9-5 job is pretty hard I feel sometimes. Other than tiredness, you have to be punctual in doing your tasks. There’s no better way in handling this other than having your own schedule and checklist of what you should do everyday.

For myself who work 9 hours per day (including 1 hour rest time), I used to spend 2 more hours in the office for meetings, trainings or urgent issues that must be handled and solved immediately and ASAP. This adds additional burden and limits my time even further to do my part time job since I have to divide the time with my family as well.

So how do I manage all tasks daily ? I’m not very good on that, but I have a few tips that you might want to try.

Managing and reading your emails
This is one of the tasks that would normally take most of your time, especially if you have a lot of email addresses for each of your websites. The best way is to download your emails to your email clients such as MS outlook or Eudora. It is tedious to go trough each email account one by one, and even worse if our email is sitting on different servers which require different login URLs and user information. For free emails such as Gmail or yahoo, it might be easier since you only have to sign in and out only, but better still, it is not a user-friendly task for you.

If you can’t afford MS Outlook (which comes with your MS office), you can use MS Outlook Express (called on MS Windows version prior Vista) or called MS Mail in MS Vista, which came free with the OS. Uedora is pretty good too, I had tried it before.

If you’re using smart phone with wireless email or WLAN capabilities, that is even better. You will stay connected with your email wherever and whenever you are.

Deal with your family or spouse properly
This may sound weird for some of you, but this is real. Family is the most important thing you’ll ever have, but sometimes you spend lesser time with them than with your part time job or your permanent job. Let them understand what you’re doing in the most basic way and tell them what and why you doing this, and maybe give them some advantages that they might get if you’re successful. Attract them to join you in doing this together, 2 person is always better than 1.

If you have Paypal account or Adsense check, show it to them, that this is what you have achieved so far. Impress them and make them feel interested to join you. Living in peace and harmony as well as having cooperation from your spouse and family, will make your effort being appreciated and probably double the outcome too.

Rest adequately
Spend the time wisely between your family, your part time job and don’t forget yourself too. Get yourself enough rest. Remember that you still have a permanent job to attend daily on weekdays, and don’t let your part time job affects your permanent job. When you just started in this field, you still depends much of your financial condition with your salary, so do not jeopardize them until your part time job is giving equal or more than what you earn from your permanent job.

Having better rest also will make you more energetic in doing things and generate more bright ideas and etc.

Outsource of hire
Previously, I’m doing everything on my own, from web design, script modification, promotion and getting traffic. But now, I realized that is not the best way to manage your business. What is the area that you can outsource?

- Hire someone to do something that is not under your expertise, such as web design
- Automate as many processes/tasks as you can, such as in SEO or getting traffic or blogging

So how do you manage your internet business? Are you doing it full time or part time basis?
