Quick update on what is going on. BN has won 12th Malaysia’s general election (PRU12) with simply being the majority. Out of 222 seats contested, as of now, BN obtained 124 seats with opposition obtained 68 seats. To gain 2/3 majority, BN is required to get 148 seats.

PAS maintains in ruling Kelantan state for the 4th terms in a row thus dashing BN hopes to take over this state from PAS. DAP and PKR will form a coalition state of Penang where they won numbers of seat from BN. Barisan Alternative has majority seats on a few states namely Selangor, Perak and Kedah.

Several big names lost on their contested seats, namely Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon, Dato’ Seri S Samy Vellu and his MIC’s deputy president, Dato’ Dr M Kayveas, Dato’ Seri Sharizat Jalil, Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin. There are more names than that, but I couldn’t remember.

Blogger, Jeff Ooi won parliament seat he contested, but I forgot which one.

I stayed late up till morning, until the broadcast show ended, and I hope to get more details tomorrow. But I believe other prominent political bloggers have more and better updates and analysis than mine.
