luqman’s shaving ceremony

It has been more than a week of silence. And yea, we have been very busy. My husband with his work, plus his outstation for a couple of days, and me with time spent mostly on our dear Luqman (in which I have to find a way to manage it). As for now, I let him lie down on his rocker, rather than have him sit on my lap and rocking him to sleep when he doesn’t feel like to do so :) I guess.

We just got back yesterday. Last weekend, we were having “bercukur” (shaving off) ceremony for Luqman at my husband’s hometown. It’s just a small gathering with our relatives. There was a thought earlier on, to combine this ceremony with aqeeqah, but we ran out of budget. It is not compulsory to do it so soon though, InsyaAllah we’ll do it later.

Here’s some pics of Luqman :) before and after shaving.

BN won Malaysia 12th general election (PRU12) but with lesser majority, big win for opposition parties

Quick update on what is going on. BN has won 12th Malaysia’s general election (PRU12) with simply being the majority. Out of 222 seats contested, as of now, BN obtained 124 seats with opposition obtained 68 seats. To gain 2/3 majority, BN is required to get 148 seats.

PAS maintains in ruling Kelantan state for the 4th terms in a row thus dashing BN hopes to take over this state from PAS. DAP and PKR will form a coalition state of Penang where they won numbers of seat from BN. Barisan Alternative has majority seats on a few states namely Selangor, Perak and Kedah.

Several big names lost on their contested seats, namely Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon, Dato’ Seri S Samy Vellu and his MIC’s deputy president, Dato’ Dr M Kayveas, Dato’ Seri Sharizat Jalil, Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin. There are more names than that, but I couldn’t remember.

Blogger, Jeff Ooi won parliament seat he contested, but I forgot which one.

I stayed late up till morning, until the broadcast show ended, and I hope to get more details tomorrow. But I believe other prominent political bloggers have more and better updates and analysis than mine.

Hillary Clinton ads on UMNO news

I know, right now, most Malaysian sit in front of TV, watching the election’s result announcement, so do I. What do you think? Does your favorite MP win? While Malaysian election process has reaching it’s final stage, American election still has a long way to go.

In the US, internet is fully utilize to obtain support, distributing the agenda until collecting the donation. But the situation is slightly different in Malaysia. As far as I remember, I don’t see any Google Adsense advertisement related to political on the net, be it from ruling parties or opposition parties. Perhaps, this is due to our democracy process which is different from theirs. Furthermore the internet penetration rate in Malaysia still low compared to developing countries or even Singapore, our neighboring country.

Few days ago when I’m reading TheStar online, I found 1 Adsense advertisement about Hillary Clinton’s political campaign appear on local political news. I’ve screen shot is few days ago, but only now I have time to get it posted until today. The ads is about pledging for donation, to finance her campaign to be Republican’s presidential candidate. I click the ads which land me to her donation web page, but no donation from me however :) The contextual engine works well, matching the news with the advertisement. Perhaps local politician can used Adsense in the next election

I have updated my Akismet but….

I’ve no idea what’s wrong. Akismet keeps on eating comments from legitimate commentators. I thought it was due to my outdated Akismet, hence I have upgraded it to the most recent one, version 2.14. I thought my problem has been solved, I can leave my spam comments folder to grow bigger, before deleting them in 1 shot. I thought I can ignore my spam folder. But I was wrong. Dang wrong.

Not only the issue hasn’t been resolved, but it’s getting even worst. Not worst until all comments go to the spam folder la, but another blogger has become a new ‘member’ and ‘loyalist’ to this folder. This does not make any sense. WHY??

I keep de-spamming their comments, but it turns out that the next comment is still appearing over there.

This happens only on blogjer. Comments on other blog is OK.

Why is this happening? Is Akismet a slow learner?? I don’t know either.

I know, I’m just a small tiny blogger, so I guess nobody will care about this, right?

What’s next?? I turn off Akismet temporarily. Perhaps it needs some rest after working almost 8 months non stop (almost). I’ll let SK2 guards my blog from the evil spammers out there who’re waiting for every single chance to sell their Viagra, apertimene , ebooks and etc (all useless stuff) on blogjer.

I’d rather de-spam the legitimate comments everyday, rather than seeing my visitor fleeing away when their comments did not appear on the post. Sometimes there are mysteries on blogging as well.

This is the deal. If your comment does not appear on the post, please shoot me an email at [zakifahmi at gmail dot com] or utilize my contact form. I’ll moderate first comment though, but subsequent comments should pass through.

Happy commenting!!!

February 08 round up post

February has come to an end. The time gone too fast . As usual, it wasn’t complete month without the month’s round up.

Top commentator

After I did a spot check on my spam filter, and de-spam couple of spam comments, this
is the final list of the most talkative this month. I just couldn’t figure it out on how to
‘clean’ up comments from this website from appearing in my spam folder any
longer. To make sure the top commentator is chosen fairly, I’m not relying only on the top commentator plugin. I’d also run the query on the Mysql database based on the plugin’s query and modify it a little bit to return the result. The winner, Shaz who has 27 comments on her name, will receive a t-shirt (that I haven’t decided on just yet). You’ll be contacted in a day or two (or 3).

Again, BIG thanks for making Blogjer cheerful. Link love for all of you!!

February posts

This month, I’ve posted less than January due to my commitment to my job. I sometimes spend 12 hours in the office to meet the deadline (common excuse for part time blogger). But this won’t stop me from actively maintaining this blog. Check out this month’s posts that I pull from database.

Traffic

Page views and number of unique visitors increased by about 4.5% and 16.71% respectively. Most of them are supplied by Google and Yahoo and from a couple of blogs that I frequently visit and leave  comments. Some portion of it also comes from Entrecard and ProjectWonderful which I start using last month. I hope to have a better figure this month.

It’s still long way to go for Blogjer to be a good blog in the blog sphere. Overall, I’m not very satisfied with my own effort and blogjer.com this month. Hope to get better this month. Kampai!!
