One of the products launched during ‘Buy Malaysian Product’ opening campaign is a mobile phone, called Ad-Deen Q292, a product of Ad-Deen Technology Sdn Bhd.  Ad-Deen Q292 is Islamic themed mobile phone with Islamic related features such as Qibla, Prayer times and etc. Comes with 3 colours, the phone is retailed at RM399.

According to Ad-Deen’s Exceutive Director Megat Radzman Megat Khairuddin, the company targets to sell 40,000 units phone this year in Malaysia market alone. They have also received booking amounting 200,000 units each from Indonesia and Dubai. That’s quite an achievement for new mobile phone players like Ad-Deen Technology.

Very little is known about the mobile phone itself, neither Ad-Deen Technology nor the mobile phone has its own website. But I can guarantee you that no Snapdragon or AMOLED capacitive touch screen exist on this model.

One interesting fact is, one of Ad-Deen Technology directors sit in CSL Care management board, which tells us that both companies have some sort of relation to one another. CSL Care is the largest mobile phone OEM manufacturer in Malaysia, so there is a possibility that this phone is co-developed by both companies with CSL taking care of the manufacturing and retails while Ad-Deen is more towards its contents development.

Update 22-March-2010 : It appears that Ad-Deen Technology is the subsidiary of CSL Care, and it’s official webpage is here.

Microsoft Courier

Microsoft Courier offer different design and feels from iPad, the most sought after device which had just launched couple of days ago. It does looks like book (yes, real book); my first reaction upon seeing this device. Interestingly as demoed by 2 videos below, Microsoft Courier will support finger touchscreen as well as stylus pen.

The concept previewed are pretty interesting. For instance, it shows how you can do one task on one of the screen, and do something else on the other screen, with both task are within your sight. It can move/copy the object from one screen to another and vice versa as well. Although it is just basic multitasking, but it’s happen on different perspective that we used to.

Digi Open Pre-Order for iPhone

iphone digi preorder Digi Open Pre Order for iPhone

Beginning last Thursday until 18 of March, Digi has opened the pre-order for iPhone, signaling that the launch date is nearing. No price or information about the plan available at this point of time, but soon will be emailed to those that pre-order the phone according to FAQ.

During pre-order period, one person only eligible to book one unit of iPhone , which will be available for self pick up at Digi Centre at Penang, KL and Kota Kinabalu. More detail about pre-order can be obtained here.

This is pretty exciting news to those that wish to use iPhone ever since Maxis launch it 2 years ago, but can’t afford for high cost of ownership, or loyal Digi customers who prefer to stay with the carrier network. I know you’re one of them (just kidding). I can sense some sort of price war going to happen soon!

On another side, Apple has 4th version of iPhone in pipeline due to release on June or July. You may notice the rumors that has circulated around on the net for sometime, it is pretty solid. I’m sure that you would want to consider that before jumping to the line.

l’ll stick to my first gen of iPhone until the next gen of iPhone offers completely different experience of smoothness, feels and design. And yes, iPad is just around the corner, do you think it’ll be here soon as well?
