Who has similar logo with google’s new favicon?

The new Google Favicon, google favicon apparently is something that’s not new. It is taken from the 5th character on Google logo that has been around since Google is founded. google logo

When I had first discovered about it, I thought the new favicon is only for Google Adsense. At that time, Google.com is still using the old favicon, but apparently, the new favicon is rolled out later. As a much sought after company, the new favicon received mixed feeling from users. Some likes it, some dislikes it and some doesn’t care at all.

If you look closely, the new Google Favicon is almost similar with font Perpetua with a little touch upperpetua. Open your word editor, choose font perpetua, and you should be able to get similar font.

Google is not the only company or website using small cap ‘g’ as a logo or favicon. Check this out.

If you think the new favicon is ugly, why not send your own ideas. Googlers are great in building a system, but when it comes to logo design, it is not up to the level yet

Microsoft Live Search Toolbar on HP Consumer PC

MIcrosoft will start installing its Live Search Toolbar on all HP Consumer PC sold in North America and Canada starting next year. The default search engine will be set to Live search. Similar action has been taken by Microsoft when Live Search was the only and default search engine on IE 7, before Google opposing that setting back then.

microsoft HP

It is unknown when worldwide HP shipment will have similar installation. From my point of view, this is a brilliant move by Microsoft since Google has partnered will Dell last year to offer similar thing.

Search Engine Land has detail breakdown the PC market share among the main PC makers by worldwide and North America, only where this deal is done.

While this is a good move to encourage more users using Live Search, but MS must improve its search quality in the first place. The default search engine can be modified with a few steps easily, so Microsoft wouldn’t want this to ruin their effort in catching up with Google, which costs them billions paid to HP.
