Users are without an admin right, or prevented from upgrading the web browser by IT admin.  The incompatibility and lack of fund to test their software, are often stated as the reason, why they reluctant to move to the latest version.

WordPress plugin: GooseGrade allows readers to correct your posts

My English is far from perfect. I can’t hardly write a post in less than 30 minutes. There are ‘holes’ here and there needs patch up. I still need someone to proof read my post, but due to the speed of writing I’m ‘in’ now, with 4-7 posts in a day, my proof reader (my wife) is lagging far behind.  So having stumbled this plugin yesterday,  I felt this is really what I need. grade this Wordpress plugin: GooseGrade allows readers to correct your posts

GooseGrade plugin allow readers to notify webmaster with any grammatical error, typo error, or other English-related error on your post. After plugin installated, there will be ‘Grade this‘ button  on each post. If readers notice any mistake on the post, to correct it, clicking this button will pop out a new windows, for editing purpose.

To correct it, highlight the incorrect sentence,  which will then automatically appear on that windows. Make correction and save it. Please note that , registration is required before readers be able to post any correction.

As for Webmaster, they can view the corrections on the blog’s dashboard. By approving the correction, the error part will be replaced , or there is also option to decline the suggested correction. Watch the video below to get to get better understanding how this plugin works.

While certainly, this is one such brilliant idea, but my concern is on the number of readers that willing to register in order to use this feature. Unless the reader is blogger too, that interested to with this plugin, I have feeling that, it is hard for normal visitors to register solely for the purpose of post any correction.

Fewer users will defeat the plugin’s main objective to let ‘readers to become citizen editors’. Allowing unregistered user will probably pose security threat to that blog as well as that plugin itself.  So the best way is, to integrate it with open id, facebook connect or Google Friend Connect , but I’m very well aware that, this means more works to be done.

Next time, if you come across any typo, grammatical error here, do let me know, okey.

Sphinx powering WordPress Plugin Directory’s search function

WordPress plugin directory got little touch up at the back end side, few days back. The search function is being polished with the introduction of Sphinx. It is said now returning better and more relevant search result. Externally, it still maintain similar looks though, but with better performance and relevancy, who would arguing it?

Btw, the search box is pulling the key phrase cache from the Firefox search bar. For greater user experience, it would be better to suggest key phrase as we type, instead.
