Article directory - part 4 - choosing your article directory script

After having a rough idea of what kind of article directory you want (or you opt for general article directory) it is now to get started. Please bear in mind, some basic skills such as PHP, HTML and javascript may needed in order to mod the this script to make them look better or add on the new features. W3schools is a good place to get started about all this stuff

Article Dashboard
Frankly speaking, i have never try article directory script other than article dashboard. I’m not sure how i came across this script, but for me Article Dashboard is quite awesome. Recommending you using this script solely because it was offered free of charge is not really cool. Do find out yourself here . To get more out of it, visit official forum which allow members to discuss almost everything about Article Dashboard

Pro - FREE, a lot of features such as RSS, tell a friend script
Cons - Encoded with ioncube, less modification, no formal support except from the forum

Article Friendly
Article Friendly was developed by one of the original Article Dashboard strong back ender. Like Article Dashboard, it do have a lot of feature with 2 different things. The script is not free, it cost you USD49 to get the it, but the good thing, is that, it does not encoded. Members are free to modify whatever they want. I have plan to build another article directory using this script soon :)

Pro :Modifiable, a lot of features and add on, not encoded
Cons : Not free

Article MS
Another free article directory script form Article Trader I have no idea how it’s look like, but if you’re interested, you can view featured article directory such as Article Devil

ArticleLive NX
A product of Interspire You can view the script in action at cyblogger

There are thousands of article directory scripts out there to choose from. You can simply get million’s name by searching from Google or Yahoo. This is some of the script that i found from Digital Forum that i think might worth to be tried. As a newbie, to get started, you might try Article Dashboard before moving on to the paid script.

So is Article MS a paid script right now?

I had one of those in my site when it was released for free. I think it’s a good script - fast and easy to use.

[...] ArticleMarketer.com This is the first article source that i know. The main concept of article marketer is they will accept articles submitted by authours (you must register and pay small amount of money to have full functionality) verify and approve the articles before distributed it to thousand article directory out there. To receive articles, you must first register (free of charge) before choosing topics that you’re focus on. If you’re using Article Directory or Article Live script, you will be able to receive the articles using script provided by your article directory provider. Otherwise you have to receive the articles by email which I think require more effort and time. Read back my article title ‘Choosing your article directory script‘ [...]

My vote goes for article ms. The script is way more customizable than all the others I have tried and they have an ative forum where users freely share tips and code.
If you are thinking of starting your own article directory this might be a good choice of script, however be warned that running a directory is more work than you think.
You must read all articles or you just won’t get any search engine ranking and this equates to a huge waste of space.
I have sites with ten custom mritten pages that have a pr of 5 and it only took me 3 days to create, but my article directory so far is sitting with a pr of 0 even if I try and approve only good articles.
The prob is that people don’t submit only to your directory so each article you get is likely to be a duplicate.

I am sticking at it but it is definitely hard work

anyway, come and see what my MS Powered site looks like at http://www.articlelogy.com I am still developing it.

I agree with the comments on article MS, I am using it too. But you must be a bit knowledgeable with php and html to be able to modify it a bit, if you are not, then article dashboard comes with a few more functionalities right out of the box that MS does not have.
you can see one of my non standard MS sites here http://www.dating-articles.com and a very standard Article Dashboard site I recently built here http://www.mangiaredoc.com
Another thing worth considering between the two scripts: both carry a link back to their authors (on every page) but MS allows you to pay $80 to remove the link while AD is encrypted so there’s nothing you can do, this hinders any customizing you might want to do.

I’m pretty much familiar with AD, since I have customized quite a number for my directory. But looking at your MS, I have never customized it up until this level. 1 think that I notice is, AD has more likely to rank and indexed better than MS directory. I’m not sure how, but I have tested it when I build 2 directory using AD and MS and just leave it accept approving and doing site maintenance. It’s ended up AD directory has perform better than MS

I’m in for Article MS too although I’m working on AD and Wordpress.

I have 3 article sites set up at the same time but the one using AD got indexed much faster and has a higher alexa ranking compared to Wordpress and Article MS.
