Kuala Lumpur – 7 September 2010 – WD® (NYSE: WDC), the world’s leader in external storage solutions, today introduced its new 500 GB My Passport® Essential™ limited edition designs portable hard drives Consumers can choose from two unique designs that appeal to a wide variety of personal styles, ranging from outdoor enthusiasts to urban trendsetters.

Designed by students at California State University, Long Beach’s Industrial Design program, the drives are available in two styles for Malaysia: Black Hole and Cityscape. The decorative patterns are especially geared for students who want to express their individual style while choosing a reliable, ultra-portable place to store their media and back up their valuable work.

The drives are Windows® compatible and include WD SmartWare™ software, which provides a simple, visual method for backup using a single-screen view of the drive’s contents.

My Passport Essential limited edition designs portable drives also feature user-selected password protection combined with 256-bit hardware-based encryption. Typically found only on much more expensive drive systems, the encryption acts as a virtual padlock to keep users’ data private.

The new My Passport Essential limited edition designs are offered in 500 GB and have a 3-year limited warranty. The My Passport Essential limited edition designs are distributed by Amble Action Sdn Bhd. MSRP for the 500 GB My Passport Essential limited edition designs is RM 249.

And here is the good news for everyone looking for Nokia N8. Finally, the latest Nokia’s flagship smartphone has the much awaited release date, though unofficial, it is going to be at 30th September. The word appears coming from one of Nokia’s top exec, Tapani Kaskinen . Whether it is to be believe of not,  who am I to argue the date, right ? Nokia N8 is the key factor if Symbian ^3 OS still has it’s place in the smartphone market.

It’s September and HTC Aria that I wrote about it before finally appear on Digi website. Well, it’s not yet available in store, but Digi just opened it for pre-registration only. It is not pre-order, just sort of registration for interest to this smartphone.

I’s late I  know , blame my hectic working schedule. But Samsung’s hotly discussed tablet, Galaxy Tab is one worthy stuff to be mentioned here. Of all tablet out there, it is the tablet that could give iPad some of competition to make both a better product.

Alas the spec, I bet you all already knew it. It’s running on Android 2.2, no surprise here. At it’s core is Cortex A8 1 GHz processor (erm, no hummingbird like Samsung Galaxy S), 512 MB of RAM and 16/32 GB internal storage which expandable with memory card.

On the camera, it has 3 Megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash at the back and 1.3 Megapixel Camera at the front which made video call possible (suddenly video call become a must feature, you know why). No AMOLED screen here, but instead is 7-inch TFT-LCD multi-touch display with 1024×600 pixel resolution. Wifi and 3G connection is standard feature , which mean there is no model with wifi only like iPad. Battery can lasted for 7 hours for move play.

HD video content is supported by a wide range of multimedia formats (DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and more)

For reading pleasure, Galaxy tab has so called Readers Hub – which  consolidates e-reading applications such as eBooks, magazines, and newspapers. As starter, eReaders from Kobo, PressDisplay and Zinio are available to be used in this tablet. Over 2 million books,2,500 titles of magazines and more than 1,600 newspapers are available at launch.

Unconfirmed price is expected to be around $200-$400 with contract to telco. It will be released first in the UK at coming monts
