Not one, but 4 Android smartphone has been released by Acer Malaysia yesterday. Acer, a strong brand in notebook is relatively unknown smartphone player in this market before.  But since last year, Acer has started making it’s presence known with 4 WinMo smartphone release early last year, followed by Acer NeoTouch also WinMo smartphone at end of last year (stop following them after that)

Android is really the key factor here. The addition of Acer Liquid E Ferrari Special Edition, Liquid E S100, beTouch E400 and beTouch E120 which running on Android is timely. It gives Acer smartphone’s portfolio a boast it really needed with the growing popularity of Android smartphone enjoy so far.

Acer Liquid E Ferrari Special Edition is obviously the star of the show, with read Ferrari color and logo on it case. The spec though is not as powerful, as it’s name. It use moderate processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8250 (768MHz) and comes with 512 ROM and 512 RAM. The 3.5″ WVGA capacitive touch screen is between the size of HTC Magic (3.2″) and iPhone 3GS (3.7″). The camera is quite decent with 5MP, pretty much standard connectivity such as WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and etcPS, AGPS. The price tag is RM1899. Acer Liquid E S100 on the other hand, has exactly the same spec as it’s Ferrari sibling, except without Ferrari color and logo. The price tag is RM1499.

Acer beTouch E400 and beTouch E120  are positioned toward the lower end model with lower price tag and… resistive touch screen.. ouch! They have pretty much same spec except the processor and the screen size. Acer BeTouch E400 has 3.2-inch HVGA resistive touchscreen and Qualcomm MSM7227 (600MHz) processor, while beTouch E120  has only 2.8-inch QVGA resistive touchscreen and ST Ericsson PNX6715 as processor. Other specs included 512ROM and 256 RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, AGPS, MicroSD slot, G-Sensor, E-Compass and etc. Acer beTouch E400 is running on Android 2.1 but beTouch E120is is stuck on Android 1.6 . Acer beTouch E400 and beTouch E120 will be priced at RM1099 and RM699 each respectively.
