All Villages To Get Internet Access

“All villages in Malaysian will have internet access”. That’s pretty bold statement made by our minister of Information, Communication and Cultural, considering that there are thousands of villages in the whole Malaysia.

Looking on the positive side, this is definitely good news to ‘org kampung’ or village folks who live at the area where Streamyx coverage is out of reach. Any action towards achieving greater standard of living is very much welcomed.

Most importantly, having internet access will close the information gap between urban and rural folks. Here are some facts about the project, or you can read the full news here (in Malay)

  • Using Wimax and Wifi technology
  • It’s not free, but promised to be affordable. Final subscription fee would be announced on 23-March-2010.
  • Broadband speed between 1Mbps to 2Mbps (Wow!)

If you have to choose between Astro and internet broadband, which one would you prefer?

it reminds me last time when I was working.. my ex company had a project to have computer class for Orang Asli, although they don’t even know ABC.

In my opinion, education is the first priority.

First of all, all the villages should have better life conditions, food, water, electricity and so far. And not only in Malaysia, but everywhere in the world.
