Adam – Android Powered Tablet PC

All signs at the moment showing that we’ll see more tablet PC coming out this year. Just 2 months into year 2010, we already have HP Slate, iPad, Joojoo and iTablet (not from Apple), now adding the growing list of tablet is Adam, another tablet PC that’s looks promising.
Adam, as this tablet pc called is developed by Notion Ink, a small start up company from India. You may notice that the trend of unknown or small companies pioneering the development of tablet PC. Tablet PC is new segment in computing, and yet to prove it potential. It does exist before, but in different form without touch screen, bulky and nice OS. Before seeing the consumer respond to this device, these big corps are taking wait and see stance, before jumping to the market when it is proven, as money making machine.
First the looks. The physical design may not as slick as iPad or even Joojoo which focus on minimalist. But it does offer more than the later on certain part, with multiple ports given as shown by the specification below. Adam is 30mm in width, so it is going to be one of the thinnest tablet PC in the market.
The screen is made of 10″ transflective LCD, which provide better readability under the bright sun. It got HDMI port, 3 USB ports and rotating camera which can be flip upward and backward. Interestingly, it got touchpad at the back of the body; first of any kind . You can see how the touch pad works on the video below.
It runs on Android, brilliant choice considering the attention it had right now. Adams can runs on Chromium and Linux OS as well.
Adam is scheduled to be available on the market, or specifically US by June/July. With all these pretty impressive specification, Adam is obviously going to be one of the strong contender to capture an early lead in tablet PC market.

No offence, but you should realy do a spell/grammer check before publishing a review. “It got HDMI…” and “It got touchpad…”, “It does exist before…”, “Adams can runs on Chromium and Linux OS as well.” I agree with much of what you’ve written in your article, but frustrated reading it. All of these tablets leave out one important feature of tablets… a stylus pen for inking. Without this, it’s just a toy that misses out on a huge opportunity.
@JM thanks – I tend to forget proof read my post over the time
Well the ‘Adam’ looks promising. I’m interested in how it will compete in the market against the other tablets. As JM says, it is a shame that all these tablets have no stylus pen. That would be a great add-on.
Keep on writing, however please check your spelling and grammar next time, sometimes can frustrate the reader
.
So, this is the future technology? Ten years ago, the mobile phone was a shocking gadget and now is more “wear” than the underwear. I’m curious about the gadgets in ten years from now.
@Frank – Thanks for the kind word
This looks awesome! Track pad on the back of the device is genius, IMO! Does the track pad allow you to double tap to execute a command? The size is the most appealing to me. I would so much rather purchase this than the maxIpad. I dont care how your grammar is, your point got across. Keep up the good work, PLEASE ship to US ASAP! I’ll be eagerly waiting…
JM, really?
“you should realy do a spell/grammer check”
Thank God, you’re not a blogger.
