Maxis’s Blackberry Bold 9700 Postpaid and Prepaid Packages

Getting a decent Blackberry package with great device and cheaper BIS package seems to be easier now compared to 4 months back, when prepaid Blackberry segment does not yet exist. Consumer is obviously the real winners here when carriers or telcos giving huge discount on the device and data package, rewarding customers with package, discount call and etc.

The latest offer from Maxis in conjunction with Chinese New Year is a real deal if you want to try Blackberry. Maxis who seems to be loosing its shine lately up the ante by heavily discounting newly released Blackberry Bold 9700 device, if customers are willing to pay the monthly fee for a year upfront.

For postpaid segment, customers can bring home a brand new Blackberry Bold 9700 with one year unlimited data by only paying  Rm2459. Celcom Pushes Channel X & Channel C To Mobile Phones

Celcom is pretty aggressive in  bringing their content channel portal Channel X and Channel C directly to end users. The evidence can be seen when the shortcut to Channel X and Channel C start to appear on Blackberry’s main menu device beginning couple of days ago. Other compatible devices running on Celcom network may have similar shortcuts now.

Channel X has been established for quite sometime, with musics, songs, ringtones, call me tones and wallpapers as the main contents.

Meanwhile, Channel C however seems to be a little bit different as it offers a wide range of contents from entertainment such as Musics, Top 10 to informative contents such as news and not to forget Specials for Blackberry devices.

Before going further, Channel C is available for Celcom Exec and Celcom Prepaid customers. In case you did not see the shortcut on your phone, at anytime you can access it by dialing *119# or go to http://wap.celcom.com.my/cce. Almost all menu is displayed in Bahasa Melayu.

As an avid Blackberry user, it is common that the Blackbery Menu is the first page I’ll open. During the launch of Blackberry Bold 9700, Celcom has released applications such as Celcom Compas and Stock Manager for Blackberry. Apparently, the app is available here ready to be subscribed.

There are games as well from big names such as EA and Gameloft available. Most contents are not free, which left me a little bit frustrated.

I suggest for Celcom to make lite version of applications such as Stock Manager or Celcom Compass and make it available in Blackberry App World, so users can test it out before deciding to purchase it. However, with App World not officially supported here, it’s gonna take sometime (2 months) for it to get materialized (if they decide to do so), if what Celcom said before is to be believed.

Unboxing Singer Confidence 7465

Being the third most sophisticated (and expensive of course) Singer sewing machine is more than enough for a beginner like me. What attracts me is this Singer Confidence 7465 sewing machine offers 50 built-in stitches, and they are surely cute sewing patterns. Of course there’s other sewing machines, one offering 225 built-in stitches (CURVY 8770), and there’s even one which we’re able to design patterns via computer connecting to it (FUTURA CE-250).

New Kia Sportage 2011

Meet the new Kia Sportage slated for the release on early 2011. It is one damn gorgeous car with all those sleek design, curve, Schreyer’s front grill, fancy fog lamp and etc. This car really makes the existing model really looks outdated. I drove one of those, and that’s the reason behind the post about this car in this blog.

I’m not car enthusiast to tell what lies beneath the bonnet and chassis, so this page (which is also the source of the story) well tell you better about it.

Kia Sportage is the only model under Kia brand which is assembled by Naza (Kia’s sole distributor in Malaysia) not to have tempered with Naza badge on it, but you know, if this new Kia Sportage going to be hit, I assume you’ll see Naza badge there as well.

Honestly, I prefer the original brands remain there, but that’s all is totally business matter or to be more specific, tax matter. Kia’s car usually priced competitively against the competing brand, so I expect the price tag would be in the region of 120k – 130k

Apple Tablet is called iPad

Months long rumors are finally over and here is one of the most anticipated device of the year, the true Apple Tablet… called iPad, kinda odd name though. Thinking of it as oversize iPhone, with 1024 x 768 screen resolution and kinda weighty.

Ipad receive mix reaction by readers at engadget and gizmodo who anticipate the iPad to be revolutionary product, but it turn out.. not really up to what is expected. The rant mostly due to the lack of camera, flash support, multitasking and  on screen typing.

According to apple “iPad will be available in late March worldwide for a suggested retail price of $499 (US) for the 16GB model, $599 (US) for the 32GB model, $699 (US) for the 64GB model. The Wi-Fi + 3G models of iPad will be available in April in the US and selected countries for a suggested retail price of $629 (US) for the 16GB model, $729 (US) for the 32GB model and $829 (US) for the 64GB model. iPad will be sold in the US through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers. International pricing and worldwide availability will be announced at a later date. iBookstore will be available in the US at launch”

So basically, iPad comes with 2 flavor, with Wifi model and with 3G model, plus the various size 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Count that together, you have six model to choose from.

Ipad is running on iPhone OS latest version, V 3.2.  In addition to iTune, App Store just like an iPhone, it comes with iBookStore as well.

Powering iPad is custom 1Ghz Apple A4 chip , and ARM family processor which some said is equivalent with Snapdragon or Tegra found in Nexus One or HTC HD2. The battery can lasted for 10 hours and 1 month standy.

For us in Malaysia, we still in the dark how iPad is going be distributed here. I’m hoping that it will be sold via Apple Malaysia Store for both model with Wifi/3G version although some that prefer to have it with 3G data could get it from carrier.
