The All New RHB Bank Internet Banking Website

Without much publicity, RHB Bank silently launches its newly enhanced internet banking website. According to this blog post, today marks the end of the migration that consists of 3 stages. Apart from the new looks and enhancement on various areas, the website now has moved to a new domain as well, previously rhbbank.com.my to rhb.com.my.

The websites new looks is less cluttered with each menu neatly arranged. The website main menu is now divided to 2 main parts, Consumer Banking and Business Banking. Under this banking segment, the links to the subsegments such as products are accessible from the main menu itself. For instance, under consumer banking, the link to the different card type is accessible directly at the menu located at the bottom of main page, instead of going to the Card Credit links before going to the credit card type on the previous website.

The new design focuses on simplifying the process of getting consumers to any pages with very minimal clicks. Different types of blue is now filling up the navigation and sidebar, with white remains as the background colour. If you notice, the website also has been set to appear at the center of the web browser, regardless of the screen resolution, compared to being on the left side before.

There are many more enhancements that you could find. Enjoy the new RHB’s internet banking website, and here are some screen shots taken from my very first login.

Great Deal at Digi Internet 1 Million Bonanza

4101453497 93ed513ec3 o Great Deal at Digi Internet 1 Million Bonanza
It is only on the second last day that I noticed about this great deal. Poor me..

The promotion is in line with the lauch of Turbo 3G service for mobile phones last week. That includes Digi Broadband and DG BerrySmart Plan which each comes with netbook and Blackberry device respectively. Although the price listed is extremely low, I’m expecting a full upfront payment upon signing.

For instance, Blackberry Curve 8900 device is priced at RM99 plus Digi Broadband sign-up (58 x 12), which brings the total of RM795. That is an absolute bargain, but I’m not sure how reliable Digi’s BIS is.

Anyway, there are 2 more days to go and there are still couple of gadgets up for grabs at a such very low price. Blackberry Bold and Nokia N97 Mini were sold out unfortunately.

Dell DataSafe Online To Backup Your Dell Netbook

Every Dell netbooks are equipped with Dell DataSafe Online service as a standard feature. Suit with its self-explanatory title, Dell DataSafe Online works to keep the data in your netbook safe, by keeping it at online storage or also called ‘cloud storage‘ as more known today. This is simplified with the backup/restore function available in this service.

There are 6 packages available, but by default each Dell netbook allocated 2GB package with 1 year free subscription. The price is pretty steep, if you compare it with Windows Live SkyDrive that offers 25GB free online storage. Although it comes with backup/restore function, the price should be lowered to retain existing users who got their service free for the first year.

In case if you haven’t activated your Dell DataSafe Online, you have missed one of the useful features in Dell netbook. Let’s move on.

To get started, initiate Dell DataSafe Online,  which will first guide you to register an account.  Upon completion, you’ll be directed to the backup menu.

So now you’re ready to run the backup for the first time. Over here, you can accept the default backup plan, modify existing backup plan, or create the plan that suits your need. You can choose files/folders to get backed up as well as the backup frequency.

If that is the first time backup run, it will take approximately 3-4 hours to complete, depending on the size of data you have and your internet speed.

Backup is not complete without restore, so here we are at the restore menu. Again you have the restoration option to choose from. You can restore all files, restore only certain categories of files (eg music, email) or even specific files or folder.

After choosing files to restore, you can restore it to the designated restore folder created by the application, to its original location or other locations of your choice.

Download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

If you use netbook run on Windows 7,  you must have probably known about the Windows USB DVD Tool. Put this tool together with Windows 7 ISO into USB thumbdrive  to make bootable  USB thumb drive, and use to install or upgrade Windows 7 on your netbook.

But apparently, Microsoft has taken it down from download page. It’s all due to the GPL allegation that had surfaced about a week ago. It was Microsoft to be blamed in this case, but consumers are the real losers if this were to last long.

But don’t freak out, because you can still get the copy here or here. It does exist somewhere else in internet as well I believe, if you’re hardworking enough to Google it. Or better still, there is an alternative that you can read here.

Like most of you out there, I don’t want to get stuck in tussle between them for some licensing issue.

How Inspiron Zino HD made Inspiron Mini 10 a bad purchase

I have made a wrong decision when I purchased Inspiron Mini 10. Really. It is under power, run on Win 7 starter pack and without HDMI port.

Inspiron Zino HD (released yesterday) is guilty for making me to think like that.

As my Inspiron Mini is a week old, the fact that Inspiron Zino HD has way better spec than Inspiron Mini made me sick. Take a look at the base spec below. With price tag RM1199 (less RM100 than Inspiron Mini) , I feel this is a bargain. It has a better CPU, Win 7 Home, massive hard drive, bigger memory, generous port and HDMI.

I know that it sounds unfair to compare netbooks, with its existence meant for portability with mini desktop, but because my purchase was merely to try a netbook with Windows 7, it is quite a waste of money.

Anyway, if I have spare money, I’ll turn this to multimedia storage connecting it to LCD TV through HDMI.. wow!

Seen it somewhere before? I know, you must be thinking of Mac Mini, isn’t it? Well.. sort of, except that Zino HD is colorful.. and made by Dell.
