Blackberry 8520 speed test in Celcom EDGE network

These videos recorded to demonstrate the speed of Celcom EDGE network, when it is use to browse internet using Blackberry Curve 8520 hand held. From here, you’ll would know if the speed is suffice to influence in getting one for yourself.
Forgive me for the bad quality video, taken from iPhone 2G.
Performance may vary depend on various factors such as location, coverage, type of website you’re loading and etc. On both test, I’m keep the default setup without any tweaking.
In the first video, I use Techmeme.com as the sample, simply because it is one of the website that I visit frequently before.
It took 23 seconds before you can start seeing the web page to load and it is completely loaded in 42 seconds. For comparison, using my notebook run on Wifi (streamyx), Techmeme.com loaded in less than 9 seconds.
Move on to the second video, I choose Google.com as the sample which also the default search engine in the browser. This test to shown how fast Google return the result upon query.
Google has massive resources that powers its search engine from behind, and you can expect the page to load faster than the previous video.
Using ‘Blackberry’ as the search term, the page completely loaded in 17 seconds.
What I’m trying to show in this testing is, different websites with different resources, will return different outcome. Other factors such as the existence of multimedia such as Flash, Silverlight should be factored as well.
So what do you think about Celcom EDGE network? Fast? Slow?
I’m pretty much satisfied with the speed, although sometime I wish that it could go faster, but the lack of 3G support dampen the hope. Anybody else has run similar testing? Mind share your experience?
