The size of external hard disk has evolved tremendeously in the past few months. The last time when I’m on the look out for external hard disk, 2TB is the biggest back then. Today the size has doubled with the new WD Dual-Drive My Book® World Edition™ II. Don’t be surprised if the size double up again in the next few months. I’m beginning to think if there is any limit for the hard disk size?
With the price tag RM 2,199 and and RM 1,249 for 4TB and 2TB respectively, it comes with fully loaded features. Among others taken from the press release pages.
For all cool features it is offering, it still looks quite pricey for normal users. But if you compare the smaller size external hard disk (I bought WD 160GB with RM165), with this monster, GB to GB it is worth every single penny you spent for it.
Just think, how long would you take to fill up 2TB or even 4TB?? Is this the drive for you??
Yes if you work from home and a few computers share the same data. Yes if you want to keep the data save (with dual-drive). And yes if you’re working with huge size of files such as photos.
It will definitely be the time when external hard disk running on network (network storage to be more accurate) becomes a common thing to have such as thumb drive or flash drive that almost everyone nowadays has. Price will literally go down with the increase in demand and stiffer competition.
