E-book reader it is relatively new product in our market. Amazon Kindle is popular on other region, but it is hardly can be seen on the local marketplace. The price of the device itself is much more expensive than what we’re willing to spent on books for 1 year period. And then we’re lack of local content provider that willing to invest on such things.

Although there is Kindle for iPhone app released month ago, it is not yet available here. For communities that does not develope high reading habit , the availability of such tools or devices is very much anticipated.

Celcom to unveil Blackberry Storm this April

celcom storm Celcom to unveil Blackberry Storm this April

Last week, we have seen how Maxis and iPhone dominating the local telcos news with the official release of iPhone to the local market. Not to be outdone with its rival, Celcom beginning this weekend, started to air, TV commercial promoting unknown device due to be unveiled April. You can guess what it is based on the size.

It is none other than iPhone rival…. Blackberry Storm!! Well, my early guess appears to be true.

Blackberry Storm is the first touch screen phone from RIM, compete directly with Apple iPhone on the smartphone segment. It manage to grab quite an attention when it was released last year, so it is interesting how it will compete here in the local market.

No detail about the device price as well as the data plan or call plan available on the Celcom’s Storm webpage. It is unknown if it will use existing plan or Celcom will introduce new plans just like Maxis approach with iPhone.

Xobni 1.7 leaving beta label with greater perfomance

xobni Xobni 1.7 leaving beta label with greater perfomanceXobni team has releasead Xobni 1.7, a new version of  Xobni, a popular Microsoft Outlook plugin last week. At the same time, the beta label is coming off, to mark another milestone of Xobni.

That was a great news to Xobni user, as this signaled that Xobni has achieved more stability, in term of performance and functionality as well as free from minor bug.

I’ve been Xobni user since 2008, but has stopped using it due to buggy performance. Xobni is great plugin for Outlook, if it is not because of that performance issue, which happen when you have huge mailboz size. Personally, I admire its powerful search feature, which default search in Outlook, is lacking with.

The new version highlight the performance enhancement it has made to Xobni.

  • Outlook now starts 31% faster*
    • Additionally, you now have the choice to make Xobni start immediately with Outlook, or start only when you want to use Xobni
  • Xobni Profiles now load 42% faster*
    • We’ve cached profile data, so Xobni stays out of the way of Outlook when it is doing its thing
  • More performance controls
    • Users can control how often and how much data Xobni indexes
    • Users can control when Xobni is running

* Users with large inboxes will experience more dramatic improvements. We made these improvements for you!

I’m tempted to use it back, and I wish these claims are true. Download Xobni here.
