Digi officially unveiled Digi Broadband services

Last week, DiGi officially introduced it Digi broadband service, hence become the latest player to join the fray of internet service providers in Malaysia. With tag line ‘Broadband Done Right’, it promise to provide the greater broadband experiment to Malaysian.
DiGi broadband run on 14.4Mbps HSDPA network infrastructure, although the advertising only mentioning 7.2Mbps as their fastest speed . Digi also claim that their broadband can achieved 2Mbps download and a 1Mbps upload .
DiGi broadband offer the service in 3 different packages, consist of Discovery(RM58), Explore (RM108) and Extreme (RM180) with maximum usage in the range of 3GB to 20GB. Download speed ranging from 700kbps to 2mbps, while upload range from 200kbps to 1Mbps.
The first 2 package use modem cost RM30 monthly, paid on installment for 12 months period, while Extreme which using different model, cost RM50 monthly, in 12 months period as well. All modem will be owned by customer when the subscription end.
Customer bound no contract on all packages, but they have to pay the remaining balance of modem installment, upon termination of the service. More comparison among the ISP provider can be found here.
Considering this service is just rolled out recently, DiGi broadband coverage still limited to certain locations in Klang Valley, although Digi plan to cover all population area in Malaysia, on the later stage.
DiGi will also be introducing its 3G voice and data services for mobile phones this year.
Interested?Use plan recommender to know which DiGi broadband package works best for you. For instant, if you get online daily, more than 6 hours per day, for the purpose of internet surfing, email , download and entertainment, it will suggest Explore package, cost you RM108 per month + RM30 for modem (12 months installment).
However with only 10GB limit, and my family run 3 notebooks consecutively for almost 16hours everyday, this package is not suitable for our need. Check out the coverage area too, before subsribing.
wow ! =D cool
When made comparison the celcom is better than this pacakage the reason:
1.the coverage issue.
2.The hidden aspects if your usage more than limited capacity probably DIGI may impose other charge .
3.The line realibilty not good as Maxis or celcom.
4.The overpriced..package.
5.The company does’t any good infrastructure for IT networking systems.
TQ this real situation…DG faced…
I really hope Digi Broadband will cover my area (Bandar Baru Bangi) and also offer Broadband Prepaid package like Celcom Broadband.
1.the coverage issue. – Digi coverage is expanding rapidly and will reach your home before you know it
2.The hidden aspects if your usage more than limited capacity probably DIGI may impose other charge – THERE ARE NOT HIDDEN CHARGES unlike other Telcos
3.The line realibilty not good as Maxis or celcom. – Ur just bias stating something without facts. Go surf around Maxis and Celcom reliability problems and u’ll dig up plenty
4.The overpriced..package – Again ur blindly stating something without any knowledge. Go read the terms and condition for Celcom and Maxis and calculate again. U’ll be surprised that the figures are almost similar
5.The company does’t any good infrastructure for IT networking systems. – 14.4MBps line and u say its not good infra? U must be kidding chibiko. FYI No other telco’s has this infra yet
This is your bias review period.
Hello…of course my opinion about digi bias..caused my
knowldge is quite almost truth..
Firstly DIGI also impose fair usage policy but they will charge u if ur usage beyond 5GB actual 3GB but when refer to maxis n celcom DG incresing their usage policy…How can???
Secondly even the line up to 100giga persecnd… but if coverage just 21% how can user say good it infrastructure!!! how can ma just for urban only ?????did u outside think the rural area the user is stupid????u have think this 20more times….this not the telephone line…..this about coverage
I already thoroughly check even DG condition quite same as CELCOM n MAXIS except certain clause …..
3rd opinion of course pricey…when compare just refer to official website that will telling the truth..u save RM8 but u lost that money if ur go to suburban areas…
JUST DEPEND ON 14.4mbps not the answer people want coverage n stabilty…just engine power without gas how can the vehicle run????that happened to DG…THINK ABOUT IT ….bro…
i been using digi broadband for few months… very happy with their coverage and also speed.. eventhough most area only got edge but way better than maxis and celcom 3g… i experience maxis n celcom speed can drop even below 100kb but digi edge still maintain at 200kb even in centre of town or remote area… those area got 3g coverage im getting speed above 1mb all the time so far… this is the best service i ever experience for mobile broadband… those looking for stability as mobile broadband i would really advice go for digi. for house only if your area got 3g signal
When DG will make the 3G coverage at Kepong?..i been using DG Broadband for few months..A bit sad there is no 3G coverage for this area…:(
I’ve been using Maxis BB quite a while (well Im a Maxis employee) but I can say it sucks big time..I’m a technical guy and I know first hand how Maxis and Celcom implement their 3G HSDPA network (BB and small screen-Phone). On 3G network we both having voice handover issue from a 3G cell to normal 2G cell so if you are on Celcom and Maxis 3G, you might frequently experiance drop calls (if u are using 3G phone and had it activated) because both are using first version of HSDPA while DiGi I believe their using HSPA (14.4Mbps) which proven wont experiance the same issue. This is also the issue why most of Maxis and Celcom customer experiance rapid drop of BB speed even less then 100kbps(literaly this speed can be consider BB at all). Even during Busy hour..their 3G/BB coverage cell will be shrink to smaller radius thus makes you suddenly log into non-3G network (a while a go you are in the same spot and you had 3G connection). While DiGi also would experiance the same issue (all 3G cell behave the same way-shrinking with more data user), but their handover from 3G network to Edge network is so efficient their you might not even realised the speed drop (mind you their EDGE speed is 284kbps-faster then average MAXIS and CELCOM 3G).
On coverage wise, both Maxi and Celcom also rollout in urban area first (KL/Penang/JB)..and we start expeanding as goes on. Cause this is where the market was and being a profit oriented company, it doesnt make sense to setup a 3G/BB network at your kampung and spend million when its only you and your sister are using it. Just not good ROI. So I believe, giving DiGi few more months (or years) they should be able to have the same coverage with Maxis or Celcom. Plus all of us update our BB/3G coverage in the website, so if your placenot covered why they the hell you sign-up for..just live with it. (Although we currently experiance some of our Maxis dealer tarnishing Maxis image by saying your place is covered with 3G BB just to get you sign-up and they get komisyen-then when you had a dial up speed you harased the customer care centre-lucky I didnt work there).
I sign up DiGi BB few weeks after they launched (I live in Sunway) just to see whats its all about. AND IM SUPRISED!!..Its really good…its true..even when I bring my laptop to Klang which havent have 3G network yet (they said next phase-by Dec09) and I was log to EDGE network..I can download youtube faster than my Maxis BB and even STREAMYX 1MB..Fantastic.No reliable issue and you can monitor your usage from the modem interface page.(I took the cheapest package RM58-now got promotion RM48.arghhh!) And I believe this was the cheapest intown compared to Maxis/Celcom/P1.I can’t wait until they launch the small screen segment to try it myself (means I have to buy new phone and sim..haha). I even think of submitting my resume to DiGi coz Im so impressed…hhahaha
I am currently searching for a better choice of broadband services in term of speed and storage. Celcom / Maxis / Digi /P1 /Jaring ? Wireless or wired ? It can be used at home as well as outdoor. PC and laptop / mobile. My concern is the charges either on the monthly or modem not too heavy to commit. Most important the coverage. May be some of you can advise me on that. Thanks.
How to check usage?
@Syam – no idea how to check that. Except P1, other telcos does not seem provide tool to check the usage
I stay in Kelana now. My sister use Maxis and often disconnect. My Celcom faced the same issue. When I requested for termination because of bad service they ask me to pay the remaining of the contract. Luckily just 6 months I need to pay.
July I have registered with Digi broadband, it is very good and fast. I use PPStream and no disconnection. Youtube loading very fast. I am a hardcore Youtube and even Streamyx 512kbps also unable to compete. I’m not sure with 1Mbps because previously I only tried 512kbps. My office using lease line and sure can’t compare.
BUT…… HOWEVER…… not every area could support this Digi Broadband. I brought back to Sabah Kota Kinabalu & Tawau last month and it could only support EDGE.
So, if you travel a lot. Please forget about Digi broadband. But if you using it at your home or office, why not have a try, HOW? Go to authorized Digi agent. Ask them go to your area and test it. Certain agent provide this kind of services before purchasing.
BUT, they will use the BEST package for testing, so, DO NOT EXPECT WITH WHAT YOU SEE WILL WHAT YOU GET.
My sister now still have 4 months to go before termination. What to do if you are not willing to pay the remaining.
BUT, when you are over 10GB, they will charge you RM0.05 per 10MB additional usage.
Bare in mind, there is always 5% Govt Tax for telecommunication.
@BCG_Budak_Sabah – Thanks for the feedback. Very appreciate your input here.
ui bagus juga ni..nanti saya mo ambik digi BB la sebab saya tengok kat celcom yang ada cuma maki hamun saja maxis pon lebih kurang juga…banyak yg cakap celcom penipu
last time saya pakai celcom broadband .. tp kecewa, hancus … iklan jer gempak ..tp line dia out slow giler ..nak laju kene masuk wilayah dia (wilayah celcom)… last tukar pada digi BB..boleh rekomen aarr ..ok, stable.. laju .. ..klu xder 3G pun eadge dia pun dah power …
caya lu DIGI BB
I agree with Sharanjit Singh. DG BB really kick a**. So to speak. I tested it myself 2 days ago at home using my brothers’ dg bb. At one time, i thought the signal was on HSDPA but when i checked, it was on EDGE, but the speed was superb. Currently (when i type this reply) i am using my sisters’ in law celcom bb. Guess what? It really sucks. Sorry, no bias info or whatever here, since i am a person in networking where i really test something for the best outcome no matter who the vendor or service provider are. Celcom really do need to do something about their unreliable conn/disconnection probs/issue. Yes,celcom have the coverage but failed to maintain the conn. I think i will register for dg bb next week.
