Celcom introduce Celcom Broadband Prepaid

Celcom, yesterday introduce its latest broadband package, Celcom Broadband Prepaid starter kit for people who want to get online without the hassle of registration. Broadband service offered as prepaid package, is the first of its kind in Malaysia, although the prepaid concept itself is nothing new here.
Broadband Prepaid starter pack is priced at RM25 with RM20 credit. It is valid for for usage of 7 consecutive days of internet access at speeds of up to 384 Kbps. Pretty slow indeed.
It can be activated instantly without the need of any registration. However this is data only services, which means NO voice/video calls and SMS features available.
Is this the right package you? This is depend on how your internet usage is.
Are you lite internet user? Are you rarely online? Are you traveling a lot?
If the answer is yes, probably this is fine for you. But if you relied on internet for some serious related purpose, go fo other package which offer higher speed and bandwidth.
More info about broadband prepaid can be found here.
Celcom currently offers the widest broadband coverage in the country, covering 71% of the populated areas in Malaysia, with over 270,000 subscribers as at end-February.
Gosh, this plan been sms to me yesterday by my friend. I got no interest until celcom build up back their reputation on current broadband.
Hmmm I can consider this…
no interest of celcom 3g… i subscribed and keep disconnected every 5 minutes… got to wait of P1 at my place and i am free..
anyway, this actually a good news for me to terminate the celcom 3g postpaid line.haha
wow… never heard of this…
@catzer, err they spamming you? Anyway, Celcom works fine to me, better than Maxis especially the coverage
Yeah…something new there right? But when I look back to its speed and bandwidth….nothing really special there…except its new idea….using prepaid. But still need a deep consideration. It is still better go to the CC (cyber cafe) then using this kind of service (in my opinion la)
Celcom broadband always got problem.
@Rahim, this is target people who want to have internet broadband on the go. Let say you have subscribed to streamyx, but you want another broadband for outdoor use purpose
nice move.. since it’s prepaid, existing streamyx customer dont have to worry their internet monthly expenses goes up to get internet on the go..
i am pretty confuse about this plans.is 3g coverage are required to this plan? :0 i want to start surfing but i confuse
. and how should i paid to use this plan?is it kinda top up things like we’re all using the normal prepaids plan? ;0
Very good product caused my hometown(KAMPUNG AREA) the celcom 3G coverage better than town area…….
how can ma..this package is very suitable compare to P1 Maxis n Digi price high reliability like the piece of shit unstable and less coverage .Does’t need Commitment fee…can terminate anytime…This prepaid is tolerable…And i told to all of u outside there this message was send by celcom broadband pre-paid…..quality is considered but not fast as ferrari…la ma ..if u think speed better u subscribe 100megabait line..heheheh.give 4 star to celcom…+ 1 extra star to the company strategies planner.
Save a lot money during reccession…TQ…buy 1
This is a great option for anyone always on the move and away from their desks. We all love prepaid packages as it gives us flexibility in our spends.

Hello edwin T actually the prepaid broadband speed just up to 384kbps use 3G/HSDPA setting….For download just average u can download so many file or video but make sure u have software such download accelerator or Godzilla to handle the bigger capacity….speed for download is around 0-110kbps but the consistent speed just 40-60kbps.that ok for me..quite fast..with budget my budget limit
7 days mean ur can use this broadband with cost just RM20 only…from date of subscribe e.g 1/1/2009 7 days end on 7/1/2009 either u use or not .that is 24hours (time also applicable)
Need to top up like prepaid telephone..the intsruction available on manual book or ur can access http://www.celcom.com.my/broadband
For surfing the quality is good and more than average..
Of course KL areas the line is better…my home town also got 3-4 bar for signal.(that is rural areas bro????
The price just RM25.00 with credit ready RM20.00 and 1 simcard..
u also able to subcribe the daily unlimted just RM6.00 a days
That mean u subcribe broadband when u need only…use simple code to subcribe this package .
But remember this package just suitable for people who don’t like the monthly commitment.
And 1 more u have to buy for ur own MODEM…3G USB modem price around RM250-RM699 depend on model n technology.(usage fair policy for celcom 5GB also applicable to this package.

@Budak Kampung use prepaid broadband from CELCOM – thanks for the through explanation!
I am currently a broadband user. At first the broadband line and everything was okay. I am satisfied with it. But after 2 months the problem started. The broadband device knows how to disconnect from the computer itself. It is not the line disconnect but the device disconnect from the computer. Usually when the device is plugged out only mean device disconnected but mine was still plugged inside and every 2 to 10 minutes it will say the device is disconnected to the computer. I didn’t even touch the device!!! Can anyone help me with this problem. I really need to solve it coz internet is my life and i need it for my studies too. I will bored to death without internet with me. Pls help me out anyone. Why is this problem happening? Does anyone else have this problem or its only me having this problem. I can’t even go into the internet peacefully to do research for my projects. I already tried restarting the computer, Pulling out the sim card, plugging out the device and replug it back but all these doesn’t semm to solve the problem Pls help me!!! I am waiting for replies. Thx.
Jonathan, why don’t you try to plug thye modem to another computer, see what the outcome is. Maybe it’s ur computer that cause the problem or if you have plugged the modem to other computer and the problem still remains, then it is your modem who cause the problem. I hope the modem you bought still have warranty, change it if the problem remains.
i ve using this thing since last week, my location- sepang, modem csl model u1. coverage 2/5 bar and sometime 3/5 bar i never get full bar.
the speed for me is fair laaa cause i can stream video with ease.
download speed 20 kb/ps to 45 kb/ps depending on which server you re downloading.
only negative thing for me is that the unstablelity is there to haunt you. it will auto disconnect when the signal is changing from 3g to gprs this thing happen very frequently, even if i went to klcc also the same thing happen.
lastly my advise to you all don’t use your phone as a modem with this thing especially the ap set because it will effect the speed. i ve tried with my nokia n95 ap set damm slow man and always disconnected that is why i bought usb modem … unless you have the original set.
response to jonathan,

The other day i tried the rm20 per/week package using my xpax prepaid. I can get max speed of ~1000kbps (in penang) but together with frequent disconnection issue. now i’m curently subscribed to celcom 3g 368kbps package, the good news is there is no more frequent disconnection issue, only some… if you’re in kampung or a place with no 3g/hsdpa, you might need the edge enabled modem. lately, celcom has upgraded their gsm network to support edge, which as we know is faster than gprs. Anyway you have to try it yourself, different place got different speed maa… cheers
Thanks for the feedback herius.. appreciate that
hi,modem+celcom prepaid broadband can get how speed in kuala lumpur.can tell me pls?
Just purchases one last week with a 3 e156g UNLOCKED modem..it was works FINE apart from the constant DISCONNECTIONS…Can get around 20kbps AVERAGE…i guess its okay..especially considering the flexibility of terminating the contract anytime..Plus they dont THROTTLE back ur internet speed on the “8th” day…lol
Thinking of getting an antenna..to help boost the signal..to help maintain signal???
waaaaaa…my problem same as jonathan..and i’m doing the same thing like he did..don’t know why.it always disconnect by itself.about caveman advice,i have already plug on another computer.not one computer but 3 other computer and the same thing happened..whyyyyyyyyy??????
I am Sri Lankan will be in KL for a week, mean time I will be travelling to cingapore for 3 days, can I use this connectin in singapore as wel

@Nate – you gotta ask Celcom this question
