New browser-based file uploads

Forget the previous Flickr’s web based file uploads tool that only allows selecting 1 file at one time as well as limited files upload.

The new file uploads, now using Yui Uploader is a step forward to give greater experience to Flickr’s users. You can select multiple files simultaneously, upload them, and monitor the upload progress via new interactive user interface.

Any load failure or error exception will be shown there as well. The short video at the end of this post is demonstrating how it works, plus this screen shot below.

If you’re into more technical and are curious about the whole thing, you can read it here, but it is rather long and quite technical and is a complicated post for regular users. Dev might need this.

For end users, it is sufficient to know that you’re no longer has to go through the hassle process of loading your photos into Flickr. Enjoy!

  1. Acep says:

I like flicker, but for poor bandwith like me, it’s need long times to open even disconnect :(

  2. There is one feature I think flicker should implement, and it is one that is similar to “Google alerts” I would really like to get an image alert of certain athletes that I like, I think that would probably boost their traffic even further when people get email notifications of new images that they like! :)

    Till then,
