ASB’s 2008 income distribution
The wait is over.. PNB declared an income of 7 cent per unit & bonus of 1.75 cent per unit for Amanah Saham Bumiputra (ASB) . The total payout is RM4.22 billion which will benefited 6.56 millions unit holders.
For ASB unit holders like us, this is obviously announcement that everyone wait impatiently. Me & my wife invest considerable amount of our income on ASB via the Maybank’s ASB loan. For investment over 100K, interest rate is at 5% per last balance, while lower loan amount will be charged with higher interest rate. So we end up with net income of only 2%.
With current inflation rate on a 7-8% range, obviously this is not a wise investment. Although profit is the main reason of any investment, but our initial target is to get into saving consistently. This is the 2nd year in the 10 years loan tenure, as usual we hope for better payout next year, and be able to service the loan without defaulting.
Irwan.biz has a vast amount of information regarding ASB, among others on how to calculate ASB’s income.
As comparison, below table shows the past years figure taken from ASB website.

i invested max amount and stretched for 20 yrs.. interest rate was 5.15% fixed for 1st 3 yrs.. my plan is to quit b4 entering 4th yr & take my estimated 15k net profit..
(provided asb maintain their performance)
I never invested in ASB even though I know it profitable… hehehe… (I have my own reason for this).
I’m quite reluctant initially. But after our Mufti Council give a green light (i read this from Ustaz Zaharudin.net), I give no 2nd thought
I thought the interest is fix. I took 10 years, the interest is 5%
interest are blr based.. 3yrs fix considered good
