World No Tobacco Day 2008

I have overlook so much events recently even though I have marked them in my Google Calendar. 2 days ago at May 31st, there was a World No Tobacco Day, an annual event organized by WHO
This year celebration carried out theme Tobacco-Free Youth, which aim to break the advertising of smoking especially to youth. The facts why this campaign focused on them.
WHY DO WE NEED TO CAMPAIGN FOR A TOTAL BAN ON TOBACCO ADVERTISING, PROMOTION AND SPONSORSHIP?
• Because about half the children of the world live in countries that do not ban free distribution of tobacco products to them.
• Because only total and comprehensive bans can be effective in reducing tobacco consumption.
• Because national-level studies before and after advertising bans found a decline in tobacco consumption of up to 16%.
• Because partial bans have little or no impact on demand since advertising can be switched to alternative media.
For a note, I was a hardcore smoker few years back before I met Mai my wife. She is so persist and persuasive in effort to put a dot in my smoking habit. Alhamdulilah, I stopped smoking (not 100%) after our engagement and 100% clean after I married.
How about you?? Show you support to this campaign!!

Agak2 berjaya ker zaki??
ntahlah.. NO Tobacco day .. bagi saya yang tak merokok oklah..
yang perokok tu boleh ke laksanakan?>???
dang i didnt know they distributed it freely to other countries around the world to kids… shame on them!

Here in India tobacco products are not to be supplied to children (u need to be 18+ to have them) punishments are there.. but the extend is in monetary terms.. in kerala (a state in India) public smoking is banned(not that effective- but atleast its banned). And here vendor is not supposed to supply free fire for smoking
Yeah no mtch sticks baby.. u have to bu them if u wanna smoke
Because none cares about you and if you want to stop breathing nicotine – you should pay for that.
For a note, I was a hardcore smoker few years back before I met my wife – just the same story.. quit 2 years ago and feel fine
