When is the next Alexa ranking update?
I know everyone loves ranking, so do I. In fact, ranking is one thing that motivates me to write and blog (other than $$$). The undisputed and most sought after, is nothing else than Google PageRank. Alexa ranking comes as the second most recognized ranking to me.
It’s been 2 weeks since Alexa changed how their ranking system works. Blogjer dropped 150k rank down to 300k from around 150K initially. And I’m not alone here. Almost all major blogs and websites experienced drop in ranking as well. I believe you’re one of the ‘victim’ too.
How hard had I achieved this rank, since I gave this blog a new life starting last December, but it’s gone in a blink of an eye. I’m not blaming Alexa though, even though I feel a little bit frustrated, since the old system is inaccurate. As most of us aware of, it was calculated mostly based on the number of hit from the visitors who has Alexa toolbar installed.
Well now, is the new system trustworthy? I know, it’s still 2 weeks, and if it is judged by the UAT (user acceptance test) that is normally done on newly deployed system, 2 weeks is too short (lol, but this is free system, so no UAT). But the new system must has been in Beta prior to roll out on all websites.
On the previous system, Alexa rank was updated on weekly or bi-weekly basis (but sometimes in months). So there is the questions popped out on my head
- How frequent Alexa ranking would get updated?
- At the moment, Alexa only calculating traffic for the past 9 month. When the rest of data will be in?
- How accurate the new system would be? What is the new rank algorithm?
I can’t wait to see the next Alexa rank update. Would blogjer.com get a better rank?? I wish to achieve the rank that I have had before, the least..
I think it is still early to see if Alexa new algorithm really reflect the true ranking of a site, but, at least they acknowledge and make changes. Their previous ranking through tool bar is totally odd and I am surprise that people don’t take them too seriously.
Let’s hope this change brings some credibility to Alexa.

Well, that about 60K of differences.
I don’t really care about the ranking but rather the money I earn out of my site.
OOOO.. ada problem rupanya Alexa.. Patutlah.. Saya punya pun tetiba je meningkat.. dari 1 juta ke 2 juta.. tu yang tak puas hati tu…
nasib baik blog manga ok 700K je.. tapi masih kerdil nak bandingkan dengan blog blogjer nie..

Haha, I know… I don’t think drop in Alexa effect your affiliate sales, since this rank has nothing to do with your position in SERP

I am also wondering when is the next Alexa rank update. Its like 2 weeks now. The last update almost took a month. By the way, I came to your blog via means of Google top rank for the key phrase, “Next Alexa update”. Hope you can capitalize on this keyphrase.
it’s common if there’s an algorithma changes
Next update is probably 1 week later and some websites/tools will show next ranking score.
I think you can mannipulate this in your advantage. The Alexa Rank is a number but if you stay at your site with Alexa toolbar installed you can change this number a little bit.
This’s just my though, today is hard to shake the Google serp, but when Alexa update the rank, i found the serp also changed, at least for some keyword that i optimized. Anyway this’s just my opinion
